Now is the time to get ready for the 12th regular edition of Haven Factor.
Which act will turn out to be this year's Haven Darlings? And who will fall flat on their face?
Be ready for all the usual excitement: the reveal of the list of acts.. the red text...
For now I want a sign-up so we get an idea of how many acts there will be as that will determine the number of rounds. The general rules will be:
1. Any act may be entered that has not been entered before. Thus refer to this list: fatherandy2.proboards.com/thread/90031/haven-factor-artists-featured
Acts entered in the recent Haven Factor Express are also excluded.
2. There will be one non-single round.
3. Double-elimination sing-offs will have 4 acts with 2 going through and 2 going out. I was going to introduce this even before it was introduced into Haven Factor Express. If two acts are tied in a sing-off (in 2nd and 3rd) then the one who did better in the round itself will go through. If they did the same, then the one who has scored the most in all the previous rounds up to that point will go through. If two acts are tied for the sing-off place (e.g. it's a bottom 2 and we have the same points for 2nd and 3rd bottom) then it will be split on who has done better in the previous rounds. If I still can't split it (e.g. it happens in the first round), then the sing-off will have 3 acts but 2 will go through.
4. I will probably ask you to submit your sing-off song along with the main song, so you won't get to know who you will be up against should you end up in it. Of course if the sing-off song isn't required you can still use it later. I'll also be asking you to submit your first round song (and sing-off) before the reveal so you won't know who the other acts are at this point. When submitting songs, please give a youtube link for it.
5. The scoring scheme will be relatively flat so no huge difference between 1st and 2nd and you'll vote all the way down the list. That means an act that scores 4 top scores and 0 from everyone else will potentially end up in the sing-off. However, just don't worry too much about it. In the end, the popular ones will go through and the less popular ones will end up in a sing-off.
6. I intend to do the score reveal in the earlier rounds about 3 safe acts at a time to speed it up, and 2 safe acts at a time in the later rounds, interspersed with red text, and the announcement will not necessarily reflect the rankings in the round.
7. All participants are expected to vote in every round (except the finalists in the final), i.e. you are expected to continue voting even after your act has been eliminated. Anyone who doesn't will be reported to whoever is running the next edition, who may refuse your entry as a result. In general, whoever wins Haven Factor 12 will be first in line to host Haven Factor 13.
8. I intend to open this to submit your act in the week of the final round of Pick Of The Pops, so that's about 2 weeks and in about 3 weeks we'll start.
9. I will not be participating myself, nor will I be voting.
