It's been announced that the X Factor winner's first single will definitely challenge for the Christmas no.1 spot. It'll be released on Wed.21st Dec, following the final on 17th. Other challenges wiil have a 2 day head start but X Factor bosses think they'll catch up easily.

Woah! Shock alert! Surely that'll cause MASSIVE distribution problems as the records will have to be pressed and shipped in only 3 days!

That'd be an interesting week I can say! :-)
And who is among the possible winners? (for those who cannot watch the show) ;D

It'll be interesting to see whether or not downloads from the Monday and Tuesday of that week will count towards the chart.

I thought the final was on Christmas Eve
It would be good to see them do a Popstars the Rivals and have the final 2 compete for Xmas no 1

That'd be an interesting week I can say! :-) And who is among the possible winners? (for those who cannot watch the show) ;D .... ......the winner has already been pre-determined and Simon Cowell has already started brainwashing the public by saying that Shayne is going to be the "next big superstar"........yeah right But the single (probably a bland version of Unchained Melody with Shayne screeching his falsetto) will undoubtedly get the Xmas No 1. I notice a few singles planned for l9 December have now been moved to the l2th (including Crazy Frog and G4)

What about Journey South, after all, they have Simon as a mentor, and he fixed it so his act would win last year

What about Journey South, after all, they have Simon as a mentor, and he fixed it so his act would win last year ....problem with JS is that they don`t have the little teenage girl vote (and this age group are the main voters)....they are voting for Shayne in the hundreds of thousands because they think "he is fit", rather than voting on his vocal ability Because JS tend to sing more rock songs, that won`t have the same mass appeal as someone singing bland ballads, and Simon Cowell won`t win again........can you imagine the press he would get of "fix". I would so love for either Andy or Brenda (the real talent) to win, but sadly it won`t happen as they don`t have the teenage vote

I wouldn't have said Steve had the teenage vote last year, he most certainly would have had the middle-aged female vote, which I reckon watch these shows more than teenagers. The fact that Steve couldn't translate his X Factor win into sales suggests that to some extent.

......yes, that`s true Paul - he did have the housewives vote I reckon (plus the sympathy vote after Sharon`s outburst) !!!! I guess Tabby last year had the teenage vote; the show seemed all geared up to him winning - I was surprised when he got voted out to be honest. There is definitely not as much diversity this year as last..........I mean you had opera/rock/soul and then there was Rowetta (diva) But this year, everything seems geared towards Shayne winning the competition - which would be a great shame because Andy and Brenda, and indeed JS have far more talent in their little fingers than him

Andy, Brenda, Maria and Journey South are all more talented than Shayne, for sure
But I don't think Shayne is that bad at all. He's not playing on a sympathy vote like Gareth Gates did and he definitely has more talent than Gates. He doesn't have great stage persona but whenever you have someone like Chico who apparently does but no musical ability, you do tend to appreciate just how rock solid Shayne is

.......Shayne`s vocals are good enough (but not a patch on the younger brother in JS - he has a most amazing voice) - it`s just that he doesn`t have any charisma or stage presence or have anything unique to offer the music industry. I`m sure if he is packaged well he could have a couple of No 1 singles, but whether he could sell albums is another matter.........I guess time will tell. But I would stake my mortgage on him winning the show

I agree with you there Penny - he doesn't quite have the X Factor and he isn't unique. But he could do a Will Young and find a niche in the housewives market, but he doesn't seem capable of that and looked more comfortable singing Cry Me A River

......I see him doing more of a GG to be honest.........big appeal to the young teenage girls for a while until they move onto the next big thing.

While I agree with you that Brenda is one of the most talented on the show, I just can't see who her audience would be? Not big enough to make an impact in sales anyway.
I do like Shayne but he is the stereotypical popstar, he doesn't have shock value.
For me, Journey South should win it. They have real talent as musicians and every week perform completely different types of songs and pull them off. I can't see anyone else on that show being able to sing acoustic with no backing track and still being amazing, and that for me is the X Factor.

I think Journey South are dire - the one who plays the guitar is an ok vocalist, the other one always looks like he is in pain As for them pulling their songs off every week - Desperado was out of tune and all over the place Journey South to go

If it's anyone but Shayne (unlikely) then I might buy the single to keep West***** from #1 at Christmas.
I don't see the full show but the rest of my family think Journey South have gone off badly in the last couple of weeks.

On Saturday in particular, when Shayne was singing Cry Me A River, it was difficult in places, to hear him above the backing singers
