What made you a huge fan of music? Let us all know your first single/album and the song or album that really got you interested in music...

My first single was B52s "Love Shack/Rock Lobster/Planet Claire" and I still love it to little bits to this day. My first albums were all for Christmas in 1989 - I had Kylie "Kylie", Bros "Push" and "The Greatest Hits Of 1989". The album that really changed my taste in music was in 1993 when I took a chance and bought Suede's "Suede" (I'd never bought an album with *shudders* guitars on it before!) and I absolutely loved it - it got me interested in Pulp, Blur, Oasis etc and then on to the vast variety of stuff I listen to today. Just to finish off the post, I grew up listening to loads of music as my parents used to play records all of the time, they weren't big tv fans. Mainly listened to T-Rex, David Bowie, The Police, Janis Ian, Joni Mitchell, Joan Armatrading & Carly Simon. Anyway, enough about me - how about you?!!!

Album (one I got myself) Americana - Offspring (one parents got me) Gold -ABBA. Well, it all started when I was 7, used to listen to pratically anything - mostly from the 50s, 70s, 80s & 90s. When I was about 11, I wasn't really into music. When I was about 12 (nearly 13 I think) I for some reason, really got into music. Then for months, it was punk & heavy metal,( ) this was also when I started getting into various bands from the 70s & 90s.

How did all this punk and rock turn into a liking of the Brian McFadden single?!!! ;D

Also, the first single my parents bought me was "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League.
Apparently I used to stop crying and calm down when it was on the radio so they bought it for sedation purposes!
(oh, and I was only little, wasn't 15 or anything!!!)

Good answer... although one thing puzzles me... How did all this punk and rock turn into a liking of the Brian McFadden single?!!! ;D well, it's probably just an awful phase I'm going through.(or Neil's fault...)Saying that, I did sometime earlier this year, develope a like for love & break-up songs... Oh and I lived in wha someone described as a 70s bubble from the age of 12 until summer 2003... Can' remember the first single I got, but all I can tell you, is that it was by Stereophonics...

Nah, it's normal. I think most people go through different phases of music. I've tended to flit between rock/dance/singer songwriter stuff as the years have gone by.

My parents got me into it, used to listen to their albums, ranging from Buddy Holly, Abba, Suzi Quatro, Bay City Rollers, Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc... First things I bought with record vouchers were Pink - Another brick in the wall, Quuen - Flash and Jona Lewie - Stop the cavalry! I guess New Order - Blue monday was the first song that grabbed me by the balls! ;D

Mom and Dad were massively into all types of music, so growing up there was always something playing. They bought everything so I'm not sure what the first one was that I actually bought. My guess would be Ice Ice Baby.

My first concert was Bucks Fizz, I went with my parents! Haha! The first single I bought was You Can't hurry Love by Phil Collins but I wasn't really very into music. Then through school I was into Aha, Bros, and general chart stuff. When I look at the #1 of 86-87 it nearly brings a tear to my it brings back such memories. In the sixth form I was getting into a bit of Simple Minds and U2, and non chart stuff but then it was when I met Andy at Uni that I finally got a bit of taste! Liked a lot of dance stuff (Black Box Ride on time will forever be my Fresher's record. ) Still now though I prefer listening to stuff on the radio than playing CDs.

I think it was listening to the chart (can't remember if at the time it was the official one or pepsi - I soon realised which is better) a lot, and that really got me into music - to start with mainly pop, but then I started listening to a lot more of Radio 1 rather than my local comerical station, and got into more rock/indie stuff ;D

Hmmm... I 1st started out with Rap/Hip-Hop back in the 5th/6th grade up until the beginning of the 8th grade... On one night I was listening to the Classic Rock station and I heard Ozzy's "Crazy Train"... And it totally changed me forever... Aboot a week or so later I went out and bought his album... And listened to it nonstop... Now I am an avid hard rock/ indie listener... And now I know more aboot rock than most others that have listened to it for years...
