BMG press release:
"To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Elvis Presley's Birth, January 8th 2005 RCA/SONY BMG are embarking on the most ambitious single release campaign in the history of the UK Record Industry. All of the Kings 18 UK #1 singles will be re-released over 17 consecutive weeks beginning on January 3rd '05 and ending on April 25th '05. Each classic single will be released in a Limited Edition numbered CD and 10" format, which will be beautifully packaged using original artwork.
Never before has an artists contribution to popular music been celebrated in such a groundbreaking way but as we know... there has never been an artist like Elvis Presley.
'All Shook Up' was Elvis' first UK #1 single and will be the first re-release on 3rd January 2005. Both CD and 10" of 'All Shook Up' will be launched in a beautifully designed, foil embossed CD and 10" box which can then be used to house the other 17 UK # 1's.
Due to UK chart regulations on packaging for singles, the 'All Shook Up' release/Box set will not be eligible for inclusion in the UK singles chart, therefore we will also be re-releasing Elvis' second UK #1 single 'Jailhouse Rock' on the same day.
Each single released in this momentous campaign will be packaged as following:
CD Single
* Each CD will be released in 'mini-vinyl' replica card sleeves with an outer and inner bag. The outer bag features the original U.S. picture artwork and the inner bag replicates a generic UK RCAingle sleeve from the time of the original release.
* The artwork for the CD disc will replicate the original 7" vinyl release including authentic vinyl label artwork.
* Rather than have the standard silver finish on the 'playing' side of the disc, each CD rear will have a black finish, again to replicate the look of a vinyl release.
* Each CD will be lmited and individually numbered.
10" Vinyl
* Each 10" vinyl release will be packaged in the original RCA generic bag.
* The 10" label will replicate the original 7" label artwork.
" Each 10" will be limited and individually numbered.
Advertising and PR
A project of this magnitude, celebrating a hugely important Anniversary in the Elvis calendar, will generate huge media interest. Noble PR Ltd., responsible for the phenomenal PR Campaign which surrounded The Top 3 release of 'That's All Right' in June 2004, will be managing this project throughout its four month run.
The PR Campaign will be backed with press ads in specialist music publications and national newspapers - details TBC."

Oh MY!
That's going to rack up some more weeks for elvis on the chart then... Limited by how much I wonder... I might get the 10"s, if I can get hold of em, depends on price, sounds like a good thing to collect...Will they sell that well when most of the #1s have been on recent cds?
