1-16:
I gave 2 points for first place, 1 for second place, 0 for 3rd.
Bob Marley 26 Neil Young 21 Robert Plant 16 David Bowie 40 Ian Dury 17 Kenny Ball 6 Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) 26 Garth Brooks 14 Beck 23 Chris Rea 25 Andy Williams 27 Bobby Vee 11 Norman Cook 29 Eddy Grant 17 Percy Sledge 17 Iggy Pop 20 Eminem 24 Barry White 19 Acker Bilk 10 Ricky Nelson 27 Lloyd Cole 26 Kris Kristofferson 12 Johnny Cash 35 Matt Monro 16 Luciano Pavarotti 16 Bruce Springsteen 34 Alvin Stardust 13 Damon Gough (Badly Drawn Boy) 18 Meat Loaf 18 Marc Bolan 27 Elvis Costello 38 Max Bygraves 7 Gary Barlow 18 Nelly 12 Del Shannon 29 Pat Boone 22 Mark Knopfler 22 R Kelly 14 George Harrison 27 Ryan Adams 19 Otis Redding 32 Wyclef Jean 12 Wilson Pickett 24 James Last 9 Neil Hannon (Divine Comedy) 30 Prince 26 Mick Hucknall (Simply Red) 16 Paul Weller 21 ___________________________________________
Two of the groups had a tie for 2nd place, so with common tradition, they will all progress and next round (which I think I will do as another group because I like groups) they will be in a bigger group.
Groups are easy to score as long as you place your votes horizontally thus:
ChoiceA 1 ChoiceB 2 ChoiceC 3
makes no difference where you put your votes, but keeping them horizontal in the order I listed them makes it very easy to score. ___________________________________________
David Bowie came through with the biggest score so far. Next phase will be seeded according to the scores achieved in this round, so David Bowie will certainly be among the top seeds.
A bit unlucky for Barry White, going out with a score of 19 (while Matt Monro was able to progress with just 16).

How many did we actually lose?

so far we've lost 14. It was supposed to be 16 but two groups had ties.
This phase was supposed to cut out 64, i.e a third of those we started off with.
The next phase I will have groups of 4 of which 2 qualify. Those that got through tied will be in groups of 5.
These groups should be slightly more seeded based on first round performance.

Enrique Iglesias 10 John Lennon 26 Jim Reeves 9 Leo Sayer 8 Adam Ant 18 George Benson 19 Richard Marx 11 Midge Ure 10 Frank Sinatra 24 Neil Sedaka 16 Sean Paul 8 Don McLean 21 Lou Reed 14 Seal 12 Robbie Williams 19 Jason Donovan 16 Nik Kershaw 22 Haddaway 7 Sean Maguire 5 Gilbert O'Sullivan 18 Willie Nelson 22 Craig David 10 Nat King Cole 21 Shakin Stevens 14

Results of 33-48:
16 voters. There were 3 invalid votes, which are adjusted to 2-2-2 which is what I now do if the vote is invalid.
Andrew Roacford (Roachford) 15 Lonnie Donegan 8 Marc Almond 25 Rick Astley 16 Peter Andre 4 Michael Jackson 28 Gary Numan 13 Eric Clapton 25 Ian Brown 10 Ronan Keating 22 Daniel O'Donnell 5 Bobby Brown 21 Morrissey 21 Buddy Holly 19 David Gray 8 Little Richard 14 Glenn Campbell 12 Mike Oldfield 22 Chuck Berry 21 Russ Conway 3 Paul McCartney 24 Shaggy 12 PJ Proby 14 Nick Cave 22 Elvis Presley 23 Bobby Darin 12 Moby 13 Matt Johnson (The The) 20 Puff Daddy 12 David Cassidy 16 Joe Cocker 20 Justin Timberlake 11 Billy Idol 17 Jimi Somerville 18 Neil Diamond 19 Alexander O'Neal 11 Marvin Gaye 19 Steve Winwood 11 Lionel Richie 18 James Brown 26 Sam Cooke 12 Michael Bolton 10 Billy Fury 18 Chubby Checker 11 Jean-Michel Jarre 19 Alice Cooper 10 Bryan Freey 11 Freddie Mercury 27
Maximum possible score 32. You seem to like the synthesized keyboards of Jean Michel Jarre and the multi-instrumental Mike Oldfield but not the tinkling ivories of Russ Conway. Peter Andre scored almost as badly, perhaps worse as I think most people here are familiar with his music, and one of the others in his group was Rick Astley, so he didn't exactly have 2 major competitors...
No ties in 2nd place this time.

Thanks, but it would make life easier if you post your votes in the format I requested.

horizontal format, i.e.
2 Green 3 Blue 1 Red
rather than
1 Red 2 Green 3 Blue
With the first format I can put 20301 very quickly into my spreadsheet. With the second I have to work it out.

49-64:
Only 13 voters this time. Where were the rest of you? If you didn't vote and the one you like got eliminated it's tough. If one you didn't like got through, then you'd better make sure you're around to vote in the next round.
Guy Mitchell 10 Johnny Mathis 17 Duane Eddy 12 George Michael 20 Anthony Newley 3 Cliff Richard 16 Ricky Martin 10 Johnnie Ray 13 Paul Anka 16 Desmond Dekker 11 Howard Jones 16 Will Smith 12 Gene Pitney 12 Boy George 15 Van Morrison 12 (Gene Pitney and Van Morrison will both be in a group of 5 next round) Tom Jones 17 Jimi Hendrix 15 Lenny Kravitz 7 Roy Orbison 15 Bob Dylan 15 Sting 9 Will Young 16 Rod Stewart 15 Luther Vandross 8 Phil Collins 16 Dave Edmunds 9 Paul Simon 14 Smokey Robinson 20 Roy Wood 10 Michael McDonald 9 Jerry Lee Lewis 12 Elton John 21 John Squire 6 Perry Como 8 Richard Ashcroft 14 Robert Palmer 17 John Denver 9 Dean Martin 22 Darren Hayes 8 Tupac Shakur 11 Donny Osmond 15 Graham Coxon 13 Terence Trent D'Arby 5 Bryan Adams 19 Jackie Wilson 15 Engelbert Humperdinck 16 Paul Young 17 Gareth Gates 6
The groups were "random". I feel that Sting in particular was the loser in the toughest group, and would probably have won Donny Osmond's group though I don't know - you do know that long before the brilliant "Breeze On By", Donny released a whole load of awful songs as a child like "Puppy Love"...
Anyway, 60 have been eliminated and there remain 132, which will be in 28 groups of 4 and 4 groups of 5. From each group, 2 will progress (unless there's a tie for 2nd in which case we get the same situation).
Next round there will be seeding, according to performance in this round, performance assessed by percentage. The top 32 will go into a pool of 1st seeds, the next 32 into 2nd seeds, and the following 32 will be 3rd seeds. There will be 28 4th seeds and 8 5th seeds. I will post the first 16 of these groups on Sunday and the next 16 on Wednesday next week.

Maybe, you could look who voted in one round and send them a polite pm near the end of the voting asking them to vote in the next round. It could also be to do with the fact that it is very complicated at the moment and features lots of artists that noone rightly gives a stuff about...
