Who do we think could be the contenders to be on the Mercury Music Prize shortlist? Not too sure when an album has to be out to be eligible, but here are some possible contenders...
There are only ever 12 nominations. I think we need a bit more diversity, so please put forward your ideas as well.
Estelle - The 18th Day
Kasabian - Kasabian (last year?)
Roots Manuva - Awfully Deep
Keisha White - Seventeen
KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
Chemical Brothers - Push The Button
Jem - Finally Woken
Coldplay - X & Y
Gorillaz - Demon Days
James Blunt - Back to bedlam
The official lineup will be announced on 19th July, with the winner announced in September.

Can't see Feeder getting in, unless most of the pannel work for Q magazine, cos that was only 1 of 2 good reviews I read!.

Yup, Kasabian was last year, but was it released AFTER the 2004 Mercurys?.

I think James Blunt may well win it but I'd love Jem to just to boost her album sales a bit more.

I think it's a rather pathetic list to be honest. But then it usually is. The Mercury Music prize is exactly the kind of musical snobbery that really irritates me.
