Can't remember if it made the top 20 but Future Sounds of London's Papya New Guinea is an undisputed dance classic.

This would be a good topic for the dance forum. There are loads of classic anthems that weren't significant chart hits. "For An Angel" by Paul Van Dyk comes to mind, it only made #28 but is still heavily requested in clubs and on dance radio shows. Oh I absolutely love this track, one of my favourites of 1998 and I agree it is a classic within it's genre.

Didn't Dolly Parton's classic 9-5 only make #49 or something?

what do you think Shirley Bassey's most famous songs are? And what were her biggest hits?
Big Spender, Diamonds Are Forever and Goldfinger all flopped.

Didn't Dolly Parton's classic 9-5 only make #49 or something? Yeah her only big hit was Jolene.

Van Morrison has never set the UK chart alight as a solo artist, and his classic Brown Eyed Girl failed to chart at all. Have You Told Me Lately did chart, but only at #74.

An obvious one has to be David Bowie's Heroes. Didn't even make the top 30 but one of the most critically acclaimed singles of the 70s.

what was that song used in the Kia-Ora advert in the early 90's that had the crow going "I'll be your dog!!"?, it was a parody of a song that made #55 in the 80's methinks.

Bryan was huge in everywhere in the world - apart from the UK until 'Everything I do' and he became bigger in the UK than anywhere else. 'Summer of 69' is a classic I agree and I wouldn't really call myself a fan of that kind of music.
