i just was listening to it....or actually it is far enough to say this way....i try to do it... not sure if you know the album yet, but i just wanted to say that if dissapointness could have a weight ...my is just like our globe.... when i heard AINT NO OTHER MAN i was thinking it must be a joke...but then i realized that it can be a new direction for xtina just to show everybody the power of her voice....i still hate this song but i can understand it.... so why whole album sounds like AINT NO OTHER MAN in 22 versions? it is the most terriblest album i ever heard....it sounds like alicia keys with frank sinatra and norah jones! for me it is totally crap!!!! so many years and that crapy result.....pathetic i really loved some chrisie tracks, such as fighter or genie....but actually there are no hit singles on this album...maybe 2 ballads sounds nice but rest... silence would be better.... am i the only one thinking this way ( like the only one seeing penises in videos? he he) ?

^ yeh Andy, Next Friday Ch4 8pm!
<><><><><>
Oh dear, you think Back To Basics is merely 22 Tracks of Ain't No Other Man - you clearly haven't heard the album, only 'Makes Me Wanna Pray', 'Back In The Day', 'Ain't No Other Man' (obviously), 'Slow Down Baby' and 'Still Dirrty' take the heavy beat route with 'Slow Down Baby' and 'Ain't No Other Man' being the weakest of thoose (In no means are they weak)! The rest of the 1st album is a mixture of soulful ballads ('Understand', 'On Our Way' and 'Without You'), 'Oh Mother', a track about her mum and domestic violence past, is truely amazing! 'Thank You (Dedication To Fans)', an obvious shout out to her fans is actually really good and a great way to end the first disk - she could have easily stopped there and just release a 13 track album - but lucky she didn't as it gets better!
Disk Two starts with 'Enter The Circus', which is all Linda Perry on vocals and is rather dark way to open, 'Welcome' is about welcoming the listener "to the greatest show on earth"... 'Candyman' (the supposed second single) takes a fun beat ('Boogie Woogie Boy') adds some checky lyrics and makes just a fun song which is one of the best on the whole project. 'Nasty Naughty Boy' see's Christina take the album up a few notches in the sexual stakes, it actually blows the scales deffo not for kids! 'I Got Trouble' is a total throwback which is interesting to listen too, then 'Hurt', the best ballad on the album is about Linda Perry's Dad and is truely amazing. 'Mercy On Me' is another ballad, more powerful vocals for Christina before she changes things up for the 'Tracy Chapman-esqu' vocals (you heard me, simple yet stunning) on 'Save Me From Myself', although its in her higher register she doesn't belt thorugh the song and although its in her higher register it reminds me something Tracy Chapman may do, a very personal and beautiful ballad! The last track about her wedding day and finding 'The Right Man' works well enough!
'The Greatest show on earth'? you bet!
Overall grades;
Disk 1 - 9/10 Disk 2 - 9.5/10

^ I don't understand how you can say its just 22 different versions of Ain't No Other Man?
I'm in no way stating this is a masterpeice, but its the best pop album I've heard this year by a long shot and I've heard a few!
Did you read my review?

Oh my god you can't seriously think this album us the worst of the year - I listened to it all again last night and tried to come from your point of view that it all either Gospel/Norah Jones(Only Save Me From Myself fits her catorgary to be honest!)-Alica Keys (I don't hear it!) - its all very vaired; what do you think about the 'Hurt', 'Mercy On Me' and 'Save Me From Myself' - all three a lyrically and vocally the best pop tracks I've heard for ages, you don't expect it from a 'pop star'! Great Review: ""....So often in popular music, the records are single-driven. There are 4 to 5 good songs at most, and the rest, though decent maybe, are mere filler material. Double-disc Back to Basics is one of those albums where even if certain songs may not necessarily tickle your fancy — there is something for everyone. And even the ones that aren't for you, you must still admit, are great...." blogcritics.org/archives/2006/08/06/233950.php
