... in time for Christmas this year!!! The following article is from Launch: U2 will release a definitive greatest hits compilation next month, it has been confirmed. The 16-track best of will feature two new songs, including the band's Hurricane Katrina benefit cover, "The Saints Are Coming". Recently recorded at Abbey Road studios in London with Green Day, the song was aired at the reopening of the Louisiana Superdome last month. Their take on The Skids' classic will appear with a currently unknown new track, both of which were recorded with super-producer Rick Rubin. "The Saints Are Coming" is set to be released as a digital download on October 30 and as a CD single on November 6, with proceeds going to The Edge's Music Rising charity. The currently untitled compilation will be released on November 21. Never mind Oasis, could this be a contender for the biggest selling album of 2006???

How can it be definitive with only 16 old songs on it?

How can it be definitive with only 16 old songs on it? I'm guessing its because its gonna cover the whole of their career rather than a block of years like their previous 2 hits collections

What's with these lacklustre compilations this year? U2 have a wealth of hits, 16 tracks wouldn't do them justice. If it took two packed cds to fully represent their history before, I don't see why they should cream off the top of that and have a one disc affair, what with all the recent hits they've added to the tally too! Can they really not just wait until the end of this decade to do the third volume of their best of series?

Actually I prefer just one disc of their biggest hits.

I personally think they have just too much stuff for a one CD compilation.

All I Want is You and Sunday Bloody Sunday should definitely be on there as they are absolute classics. Shame not to have I Will Follow either.
