Well what can we do to help album and singles sales:
1. Buy More , maybe not the album just the singles and if you like the singles you could buy the album!
2. Stop Downloading iligaly and buy from iTunes or 7Digital
any more ways to help Sales

Yeah but why buy the singles and then the album? That means you have the songs twice. If I like a few songs by an artist I just buy the album.

It's illegal downloading that I think is killing sales. Not lack of interest in music. If the major downloading services like Limewire got taken down and more punishments were given to offendors, so many more would legally download their music or go back to buying them in the shops.
I've bought more music this year than ever before as I really want to support the music industry. There's nothing like an incredible album from an artist who deserves to be supported.

But before Limewire, there was Napster that was equally as destructive, and there will always be someone after Limewire if it did get shutdown.
Having professional musicians in my family, I have to credit the fact that they are they are earning a living as well, and so will legally download out of respect.

The record industry don't seem to be doing much about it themselves. They aren't trying enough new ideas to generate interest in buying music.

everyone i know who downloads a few songs illegally actually buy 10 times more than the average person anyway!
if the musics good enough i will buy it, but there are a lot of sh*t albums out there with one or two good songs on, its only fair to try before you buy, its a lot of money to waste buying albums only to realise they are crap. i dont have any crappy software like limewire, its a hackers wet dream, littered with viruses and trojans.

Lol. I meant in the 90's when after the first week, most singles (in Woolworths, HMV, WH Smith etc) would normally be £3.99. Made the bargain bins very special indeed!

I do think that genuine sales are healthy and I really like to buy CDs and vinyl (it feels differente to have the booklet, the printing...) but i don't know if we should blame all the illegal downloads.
There were people who never bought albums and just copied them to cassette. Is that much different?
