Before there was such thing as the Premier division, there was a division called '3a' and '3b' This is what my dad supposedly told my brother, however, I have a book somewhere, which said that there was a division 3 and a division 4, and not 3a and 3b.

I don't remember there being a division 3a and 3b. Division 2 used to be Div 3, and Division 3 used to be Div 4 in the days before the Premiership. I also believe that before that, there was a Division 3 North and a Division 3 South. Perhaps that is what they are thinking of.

Yeah, Div 3 South and Div 3 North, Stags used to be in either as we were always on the boundary. Tis what they are now doing below the Conference, with a Conference North and South!

Like they do with Dr. Martens leagues? Yes, but this is a new set up.

The current Dr. Martens league (southern league below the conference), has a Premier Division, then lower divisions split into Eastern and Western divisions. Not sure how it'll be next season, though.

I didn't know the Dr Martens Premiership was a southern league...I always assumed it was midlands or summat seeing as the Ryman League is also a Southern League. I don't know what they did re the dr martens league but I know 13 Ryman league teams qualified for the conference south in addition to a few via the play-offs (in which the Ks lost )...

Well, Hastings Town were in the Dr. Martens Premier League last season, and Eastbourne this season... can't get much further south than that
