Probably football's most obvious sacking, but Gerard Houllier has just left Liverpool.
I wonder who will be the next manager? Alan Curbishley perhaps? Martin O'Neill is almost certain to leave Celtic, but I was hoping he might go to Newcastle. I can't see Sir Bobby being there next season, the board have given him next to no money to buy players and he's been told to sell players to raise more money. It means he has to sell players he bought, and a few of them (like Vianna) have turned out to be turkeys...

I know which Premiershite team I'll cheer up next season ;D I think it is a Harsh move, I wish him all the best in the future...I assume they have O'Neill lined up to replace him simple as that. I think Sir Bobby might stay at newcastle, they need some stability.

O'Neil would be such a huge appointment for Liverpool. The other name in the hat is Alan Curbishley.

as a life long liverpool fan im glad as the recent signings he made were so poor and a new approach was needed (perhaps with a few home grown players) look at the outstanding players this season carragher gerard murphy and owen.
curbishly alladise or oneil i think will inject the desire along with players who will fight to the end for a club
so im glad hes gone
(sorry for the rant)
harsh no way

I think he has made some poor signings when you look at how much people cost? But how many trophies have Liverpool won under Houllier, quite few I thought, so that is why I thought it was harsh? Cisse is coming to Liverpool I think, but they do also need a good youth policy, that way you can spend money but also bring on the local talent! And I always like that!

they won 5 trophys three in one season
but when he took over he had a five year plan and that was five years ago.
the youth setup was excellent but became smothered by his flop signings by not allowing them to even get into the reseve teams.
as far from cissee it had been reported that if houlier went he wouldnt join the club so well have to see.

Newcastle haven't and they haven't sacked Robson? I hate to say it, but I think his time is up. He needs to go. I think he's taken us as far as he can and with his team I can't see much happening for us next season...

Newcastle and Liverpool both need new players if they are to challenge the big three... and (Robson et al take note) they need to KEEP THEIR BEST PLAYERS NOW... if woodgate leaves, newcastle are screwed

What is worrying though is the fact he's been given just £8m to spend and we have about 10 players who need to leave the club but no-one is interested in paying anywhere near the money we actually paid for them when they first came here. Viana is the worst, he might be going back to his old club for £2m which is £6m less than we paid them just two years ago...

Gotta cut your losses though I suppose, and generate some kind of dosh, and buy wisely this time or even better get out of contract players, there are plenty of them and invest in the youth team there!
