I've heard that Paul Simpson has got the PNE job, tho Im not sure if its been confirmed yet. There has been a lot floating around recently. Simpson and Parkinson are supposed to be the two from runners - but apparently on the Cumbrian regional news (like Granada etc) it has said he is staying put and that it is expected that they will unveil Parky. Is certainly confusing. Don't think anyone will know until the person is unveiled. For once North End are playing their cards against their chest. Fair plays to them though. Just wish the uncertainty would end and we can get the righ man in place and start making forward steps

Well - it's finally been announced. We have got our man. It is indeed Paul Simpson on a 3 year deal. Am happy about it - good to keep the young managerial stance. Looking forward to the start of the season now.

Surprising backward step really. Maybe he felt he'd taken brentford as far as he could.

Despite my criticism for Steve Thompson as the new Notts manager, he's signed some decent players over the last week or two so it's given some grounds for optimisn.

Phil Parkinson - Hull City
still a tad miffed we didn't get him! Although Simmo looks like he knows how to handle the press etc, and how to sign a player!

Yea heard about the Parkinson one, looks like I was right all along about him doing the dirty on Colchester. I could have understood if he had joined Preston as I think you've got more of a chance of going up next season.

Money speaks though - he probably knew that he would be able to get more money at Hull than he would at PNE, more money for transfers too! Will certainly be interseting to see how he does.

I think he'll do well but Peter Taylor is a hard act to follow and Hull were a decent side last season under him.

They did look it from what I saw of them on the Championship, but both times we played them they looked absolutely awful. Would probably say the worst team to come to Deepdale last season. Hope that he does well there though! Not a massive Peter Taylor fan though... never have been, think he could struggle at Palace!

I think Peter Taylor is a good manager, so our opinions differ there. Did a good job at Gillingham, and he's done well taking Hull up two seasons running, and helping them finish comfortably mid-table last season.
I do see your point about Hull last season tho, I wasnt basing my opinion on Reading's matches against them. We beat them comfortably at home, and should have won away. Their goalie kept them in the away game and kept the score down at home. Thinking back he was probably one of the best goalies we faced all season!

Another to add to the growing list - David O'Leary has finally left Villa... I predict he'll be off to Sunderland and Curbs or Martin O'Neill to Villa

I think O'Neill would be mad to take it working under Ellis. The favourite of those linked so far is Curbs as its the kind of club I could imagine him joining.
