...according to UEFA president Lennart Johansson.
I suppose our chances of hosting the 2018 World Cup hinge mainly on whether or not Wembley Stadium will be ready by then...

If it does go to Europe then it makes sense for England to host it. We should have been ahead of the Germans for 2006 really given that they hosted previously in 1974 and England in 1966. Sweden hosted in 1958 but I don't know if they have the facilities to host a World Cup. They hosted the European Championships in 1992 but that was only 8 teams.
2018 is the year of Gamliel's Barmitzvah., i.e. he'll be 13, and I'll be 53.

it would be great, by then liverpool will have a new stadium, so along with man utd, aresnal, newcastle and wembely that will be enough HUGE stadiums, and then maybe riverside, reebok and Peterborough Uniteds new ground (supposedly new owner wants to take us to the prem and build a 30,000 seater stad )

Sounds good, but it might all be bluff to get himself reelected.

We should definitely get it, our stadiums are much better than any other European country

If we put in for it we've got a bloody good chance of getting it. Indeed, we should be strong favourites. Most other major European countries have hosted it since we last did and it will go to a European nation in 2018. Can you imagine the hype?! It would be unprecedented...

Only chance we've got of ever winning it again to be honest.

Of course it isn't. We have the right players, but the wrong managers!

Of course it isn't. We have the right players, but the wrong managers! I disagree, the players constantly underperform!

Of course it isn't. We have the right players, but the wrong managers! Rubbish. When was the only time we won it? When we hosted it! The only chance of us ever winning again is to host it again.

So we're probably looking at 9 or 10 venues...
Wembley Old Trafford Emirates Stadium New Anfield St. James' Park Villa Park
Then it's a case of whether they want to use 2 stadiums close together.
City Of Manchester Stadium is an option, as is the Stadium Of Light but they may decide to spread the tournament around a bit more, letting in the likes of Derby, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester, Leeds and anyone else who builds a stadium in the next few years.
The Millennium Stadium may be considered, too...

Just to add another point, I don't think the Olympic Stadium would be used for the World Cup as the plan is to reduce its capacity to 25,000 after the games.
