The 10 persons from whom the winner will be chosen on Sunday night are:
Jensen Button Joe Calzaghe Darren Clarke Nicole Cooke Ricky Hatton Andy Murray Monty Panesar Zara Phillips Phil Taylor Beth Tweddle
I was told a while ago that it was in a local paper that Darren Clarke had withdrawn but this would appear to have been untrue so it looks like being a one-horse race.
Personally I think that will be a mockery of the award. I was originally going to vote for Zara Phillips but on reflection think that as Britain's first ever World Champion in Gymnastics Beth Tweddle deserves it. She got very little publicity.
Although I have great hopes for Andy Murray and he has made great strides this year he can in no way be considered for rge award.
I just hope that I am allowed to vote this year. The short list for the team of the year award was chosen by viewers by text only. For health reasons no-one in the house uses a mobile. It is surely unfair that voting should be restricted like this. If e-mail was used surely the BBC is sophisticated enough to eliminate multiples votes from the same source?

She was WC on bars only though, she didn't win the all round. I agree with your thought on Clarke and Murray as well. I'm pleasantly surprised to see Button there - in the 2nd half of the season he drove fantastically. Shame Lewis Hamilton will not even be acknowledged for his achievements this year

She's a Welsh cyclist. She won the women's equivalent of the Tour de France.

Very good result.
These public votes aren't very fair anyway. After hearing Beth Teddle was PB World Champion only I changed my mind and voted 3 times - twice for Zara Phillips and once for Beth. Hubbie voted for Calzaghe.

This was the first year that I didn't have a clue who was going to win. Thought Beth Tweddle may have edged it for me after seeing her performance on the show, but Zara Phillips is a worthy winner. Although I was also quite shocked at some of the other winners, which shows just what a poor year it was. How the Ryder Cup team didnt win the team award is beyond me.
Surprised the show was only 2 hours and they skipped over the review very quickly in some cases. The cringeworthy award goes to Adrian Chiles who asked Nicole Cooke, "how many times did you fall off the bike"!
The highlight for me was seeing Paul Hunter win the Helen Rollason award, and it was touching to see his widow Lindsey collect it. I still find it incredible that their baby daughter was born last Christmas.

How the Ryder Cup team didnt win the team award is beyond me. This is definitely a result of the BBC making this award a public vote this year. Clubs are always going to have strong enough support to sway the decision over the others and there must have been some mass-voting from St. Helens fans. Something to look at for next year's awards...

Apparently Zara Phillips got almost a third of 600,000+ votes cast.
