England should do well, they have a very nice fixture list this time, at home to Italy next, away in Ireland, at home to France and then away in Wales

England looked very good for the most part today. I'm not sure they'll win the championship but they'll at least be in the mix.

At the start of the championship my dad and I said there was 3 mini divisions in the Six Nations. Scotland and Italy competing for the wooden spoon. Wales and England competing for 3rd/4th, and France and Ireland competing for the championship.
Saw the Welsh game yesterday and the scoreline completely flattered Ireland. They were helped by some dubious refereeing decisions in the 2nd half, and for some long periods Wales were camped in their own half. Wales definitely deserved a try.
As for this coming weekend, Ireland- France is a potential Grand Slam decider already imo. But if Jonny Wilkinson can produce consistent performances throughout the tournament, I think England have an outside chance as well.

Saw the Italy-Scotland scoreline after about 8 mins and simply couldnt believe it! A stunning away win, really pleased too as for years I've wanted Italy to avoid the wooden spoon (well as long as they don't finish above Wales as I do have Welsh blood in me. Finishing Scotland would be great Wales may have lost but losing to 11 points away to a French side that will almost certainly win the Grand Slam this year and have a great chance of winning the World Cup later in the year is good. Didnt see all the England match, but expected Ireland to win fairly comfortably as they simply have a better team. Looking at the England team before the match there were several players that I'd never heard of before. Still embarassing to lose by a margin that big though.

This weekend's results have really opened up the competition going into the final games:
France, Ireland and England all have 3 wins out of 4 so far, thus the eventual winner could come down to points difference. Italy (2 wins so far) could still theoretically win - if they beat Ireland and France and England both lose.
Meanwhile, with 4 defeats out of 4, Wales will win the wooden spoon unless they beat England and Scotland lose to France (then it will come down to points difference).

11 March 2007 Team P W D L F A PTS 1 France 4 3 0 1 109 67 6 2 Ireland 4 3 0 1 98 60 6 3 England 4 3 0 1 101 88 6 4 Italy 4 2 0 2 70 96 4 5 Scotland 4 1 0 3 76 107 2 6 Wales 4 0 0 4 59 95 0
I reckon Italy will give Ireland a tough game, France will beat Scotland with ease and the Wales-England game is interesting. At the start of the tournament my dad (who is Welsh) and I said that was the battle for 3rd place. I still think there could be an upset win for Wales, they are amazingly inconsistent, while underperforming against the weaker sides they always raise their game against the top sides. At home against England up until last weekend I would have said they were favourites.
This was my prediction at the start 1 France 2 Ireland 3 England 4 Wales (dependant on the result in the final game) 5 Italy 6 Scotland (wasnt sure about the final 2 tho)
That Top 3 will stay the same imo, shocked at Wales position, and pleased that Italy won't finish bottom for a change. Their performances over the last few years have deserved better than the wooden spoon, especially this year.

The final standings:
France W4 (points diff +69) Ireland W4 (points diff +65) England W3 (points diff +4) Italy W2 (points diff -53) Wales W1 (points diff -27) Scotland W1 (points diff -58)
So France win the tournament (just!), Ireland win the Triple Crown, and Scotland win the wooden spoon.
