Playing in the Peace Cup in South Korea. Lost 1-0 to River Plate on Friday but beat the french champions Lyon 1-0 on Monday. We're not playing anywhere near our best team, we're mixing it around with first team players and other youngsters/squad players. Plus Hahnemann, Convey and Little are injured, Lita has been given time off after the U21 championships and De La Cruz may be missing as well after playing for Ecuador in the Copa America. Just a shame that we havent got Setanta here, both the Lyon game and tomorrow's against Shimozu are live on Setanta Sports For years we've designed our programme for a Championship club, even last season, playing lower league teams on tour in Sweden and non-league teams domestically. This season is a world away, playing in a lucrative pre-season tournament and playing Brentford, Brighton and Wolves away. Its only our youngsters who will playing against non-league teams like Tooting and Mitcham and Didcot.

Newcastle were lucky, 91st minute equalizer though we outplayed Carlisle for much of the match.
In keeping with form, we have run up injuries already - Joey Barton has broken his metatarsal and is out until September, Michael Owen has sustained a thigh injury which will keep him out of the next two friendlies (very convenient), James Milner has a slight injury and it looks like Kieron Dyer may be leaving the club to go to West Ham...
So, another quiet day at Newcastle then!
