Good performance, let's hope there's a win in the japan v germany game and our women do the job against argentina.
Apparently England won the unofficial world cup in 89 and 85 or was it 87 and 83?

If Germany, Japan and England all finish on 5 pts is goal difference the deciding factor? Obviously even if it was head to head the teams couldnt be split. Yes it will be. By my reckoning, England will definitely be through if they beat Argentina by 2 goals. Correct - England need to win to have any chance of going through, and any win will do if Germany v Japan is not a draw. Interestingly, Group B (which is a very 'open' group) is exactly the same as Group A from the 2003 tournament...

Group C:
Canada 4-0 Ghana Norway 1-1 Australia
Ghana are therefore out, and Australia and Norway each only need a draw to go through.
Group D:
Denmark 2-0 New Zealand China PR 0-4 Brazil
All 4 teams could still go through or go out.

2-0 to England in the first 10 mins. First goal a nice header from the Argentina defender, 2nd a shot from Jill Scott from outside the area. As the job has already been done and the pressure well and truly off there should be more goals to come

Nice one! It would be funny if Japan put Germany out, they win 11-0 and dont go through!

Saw bits of the game today. Every time I had a look we'd scored another goal...

Yep, although they did beat Brazil to win the South American Cup... so the Argies go to the Olympics, but not Brazil.

Yep, USA are now 50 games unbeaten! In other news, both of today's games have been postponed because of Typhoon Wipha. This does at least mean that the last games in groups C and D will start at the same time. Full Story

Wouldnt expect us to beat USA, just reaching the quarter-finals was an achievement imo. They are also former world champions winning the title in 1999.
