Given we've got Luxembourg mentioned in another thread, here's a ground (and a match) I spotted from a train. The Stade Aloyse Meyer, the home of FC Claravallis of Clervaux, in the north of the country. The home side are the ones in red; the visitors, CS Bourscheid, went home smarting from a 5-1 drubbing. Third division in the Luxembourg league. Which is the fifth tier and divided into 2 conferences. There is no lower division. Claravais finished third (out of 10) and lost a promotion playoff; Bourscheid finished 5th.

This one is for the chop soon. Bootham Crescent, York. I'm not surprised. It is hemmed in by housing on all sides. No expansion room, no parking, no room for safe milling of any crowds more than a couple of thousand, a security nightmare. York City got as far as Division 2, for one season, while here, but they're moving soon to the York Community Stadium, to the north-east of the city.
It was a weird choice to move there. York City from their foundation played on the outskirts to the south, at Fulfordgate, but in 1932 bought this rather cramped former cricket ground to be closer to the city centre - the opposite of most club moves.

York have already moved. They played their first game at the new stadium in February, in what was the last National League North game played before the season was curtailed.

That's what I was coming on to say. York's ground was a sh*t hole and that is being kind, I remember going there as an away fan, and when you went to the loo, it was uncovered to pee into a trench in the concrete. It wont have changed for 50 years! I look forward to going to the new ground sometime and I hope they get back into the Conference soon, Harrogate Town is the highest plaved North Yorkshire side, which is most odd!

What's even more odd is Harrogate aren't even members of the North Riding FA as they're part of the West Riding FA instead due to the town's location.

The Estadio de Dragão, the venue for the final of a competition that the two participants wanted to destroy. They should both have been slung out of existence permanently. Subhuman scum.

And the other one in Porto: the Bessa, home of Good View. A rebuild for the 2004 Euros, four new stands plonked on top of the existing. Boavista are the club in the west of the city and an idea of just how big the Big 3 are in Portugal can be gleaned from Boavista being the fourth club, with 1 League title and 5 Taças. The English equivalent being West Bromwich Albion.
Founded by Englishmen in 1903, they started off with plain black shirts, but in 1933 a director saw a French side wearing a chequered design, and took the idea for his own clubs. They've been Os Axadrezados ever since.
A decade after their one title (in 2001), they had been bankrupted down to the stiffs in the regional third tier of Portugal. At the end of 2014 they missed promotion to the second tier by 10 points, so the Portuguese League just invited them into the first. Due to a lawsuit arising out of their forcible relegation in 2008 after a matchfixing scandal. (Porto, 20 points clear at the top of the table, had a 6 point deduction for the same thing.) Boavista denied the charges and finally won an appeal in 2011, which caused something of a problem for the LPFP. Especially as they had demoted Boavista a second time for not coming up with a deposit to play in the second division.
If you want an example of how much the decks are stacked against the Little Everyone Else, Boavista made €1m from hosting matches in Euro 2004. That was €132m less than Porto made.

One from the top. The municipal stadium of Nafplion, on the Peloponnese, home of Pannafpliakos, whose finest hour was reaching the Greek fourth tier in 2012-13. Their badge resembles Arsenal's as it has a cannon on it.

I had occasion to go to Mansfield for work recently, the place is, to be frank, a shithole, but I was pleasantly surprised by Field Mill; a rather impressive ground for such a historically unsuccessful club (one season in the second tier, and that back in 1977), with a stand named for Ian Greaves. A Busby babe who was a back-up to the back-ups in defence, but played enough to win one Championship medal in 1956, and missed the fateful flight through injury. Managed the Stags for six years in the 1980s and brought them a promotion and Full Members' Trophy.

Oldest Football League Ground (1861), 1st competitive game played under floodlights (1930), 1st time yellow fluorescent ball used (1998), and I'll be sat in the West Stand upper on saturday for the first time in a while!!! Crossing my fingers and toes and hoping that this season will be the one to get a promotion into League 1!

My other photos won’t load of Holker Street Barrow, so it’s one of the 18 man melee which ended in a red card for a Barrow player. Good day, always assumed barrow was a bit grim but it looked lovely from what I saw, ground has character and when a goal goes in the noise is what football is about! Managed to sit next to another doingthe92 chap who’s done them all and just filling in the new teams Harrogate, barrow and Sutton and new grounds Wimbledon and Brentford!

A centenary sculpture outside KR-Völlur, the home ground of Iceland's oldest football club. Many of the clubs in Iceland or the Faroes are known by their initials, because their names are unwieldy even for the locals - KR is Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur, which is simply Football Club of Reykjavik. "Spyrna" means "kick" and gives us the English "spurn", which has changed its meaning, but Shakespeare used it in the original sense in the Comedy of Errors:
Am I so round with you as you with me, That like a football you do spurn me thus? You spurn me hence, and he will spurn me hither. If I last in this service, you must case me in leather.
KR were founded in 1899 by Scots engineer Frank McGregor as Fótboltafélag Reykjavíkur, which has the same meaning, but the Icelanders gradually preferred kick-sphere to foot-ball. They won the first Icelandic championship, in 1912, by beating Fram in a replay, after IBV withdrew after one game and the Reykjavik derby ended in a draw. Fram then won the next two titles because nobody else wanted to play. KR's next title came in 1919 and they've won 27 in all.
It's a much bigger entity though, the pitch is all-weather with a natty stand, but indoors is a swimming pool, squash, handball, and basketball. KR has won the men's basketball title in Iceland 18 times, the women's 14, and the women's title 6 times. All wearing black-and-white stripes, chosen in honour of Newcastle United, who were champions in 1909 when the second club in Reykjavik (Fram) was founded and KR suddenly had opponents.

Ground #61, Portman Road, first ground I needed to do a Covid test before going into which I didn’t know about and so missed two goals in the first 20 minutes waiting for the results. On the plus side I was negative and West Ham won 2-1 with a late goal. Only 4000+ in but such an impressive ground.

I guess there were 4000 in as it was a tenner, whereas matchday is £30+ for league 1 football, saying that you're averaging 20000 a game, guess a lot are season ticket holders. You passed it around well enough, just no cutting edge in the final 3rd. It's a shame to see them so low in the table.
