The actual sitcom I mean. I picked up the series 3 DVD from London today. I already have the first two and I believe series 3 is one of the best! Darlene and Jackie are clearly the best characters in it. The series 2 episode about Darlene's poem is so sad.

This can't be coincidence! Today I watched the rerun of a highlights show, where Jackie - as an old lady resembling her mother - talks to a shrink en recounts all kind of events in the Conner family. It made me remember how much I love this show (up until the last season, when the family won the lottery, and it totally lost its charm).

Oh I haven't seen 'Roseanne' in years.I used to love the opening credits and the sound of her laugh. Jackie was my favourite character - Laurie Metcalf is an amazing actress,I'm surprised she hasn't been seen in much since (or at least I haven't seen her in much anyway). Johnny Galecki as 'David'. * swoons* .He was adorable.I had his posters on my wall ! He was gorgeous in that movie 'The Opposite Of Sex'(with Christina Ricci and Lisa Kudrow).

Roseanne is my #1 sitcom of all time, and #2 favorite show ever (Buffy is in my heart for #1 always). I have seasons 1-4 and will continue to get the rest of the seasons as soon as they're released.
The earlier seasons are fine, but to me, the show really hit it's peak around seasons (series) 5 and 6.
I enjoyed the lottery episodes even though I know it's fashionable to bash them.

I looked it up on IMDB: After Roseanne wrapped in 1997, Laurie Metcalf did guest spots on (among others) Dharma & Greg, 3d Rock from the sun, Malcom in the middle, Frasier, Ab Fab, and Grey's Anatomy. She also had supporting parts in the movies Scream 2, Bulworth, Runaway Bride, Toy Story 2 (voice) and Fun with Dick and Jane. PS In 1985 she was in Desperately Seeking Susan

I love this show! It's so Toytastic, and Roseanne was such a fashion icon. I agree, Darlene and Jackie were the best characters! In fact, Laurie Metcalf is an acting genius!

Oh yes,a bit of that rings a bell with me.She was hilarious in Third Rock and Malcolm In The Middle.I sort of remember her in Scream 2.All the other stuff is news to me though.
Roseannes sitcom was so good that I even didn't mind when there was different actresses playing Becky, whereas I would usually hate it when that happens in other shows. I thought the kid who was the son ('DJ'?) was a lousy actor, the only weak link in the cast.
Do the dvds have any outtakes ? I'd imagine the screw ups would be tv gold !

"Roseanne" is such an original show, and is such an accurate representation of the average family, which most TV shows don't depict. Not to mention that this show is absolutely hilarious.

I love this show. It really, really went downhill towards the end, though.

Is Season 3 the series where Patsy & Eddie from Ab Fab make a cringeworthy cameo? Other than that I've always liked Roseanne. It was quality but not my favourite show. Did you ever see that bizarre "Normal, Ohio" show (or something like that) where John Goodman plays a homosexual? I quite liked that too.

No, Patsy & Eddie from AdFab didn't have a cameo until the very last season, after the Conners won the lottery. It was a Halloween episode called "Satan, Darling".

I'm not that keen on Becky. She's kind of the Rebbie of the family! Funny when they embarrass her though!

I have the first three seasons on DVD, Roseanne rules! My favorites are Roseanne & Jacky. By the way what happened to Crystal? She disappeared after season 4

Haha, this episode is hilarious! Dan's freaking out because DJ wants to go to Halloween as a witch (He's worried he'll turn out like some of us ) and Roseanne said "Hey DJ, your dad doesn't like the outfit, why don't you go as Madonna?"

By the way what happened to Crystal? She disappeared after season 4 she appeared a couple times in season 5 and 6, and appeared in the season 8 baby shower episode. I think there really was no longer any need for Crystal after the opening of The Lunch Box in season 5, with Leon and Nancy kinda both taking the Crystal place.

I quite like it too, I have a friend who loves her so we went to see her live last year, I will not sour your thread Shellshock, but lets just say she needn't have bothered. But anyway, any show that has Traci Lords and Morgan Fairchild as recurring guest stars gets my vote!

Apparently that's really how Roseanne wanted to show to turn out but the producers...or writers? Didn't want that. A better explanation is on wikipedia but it's kinda confusing (for me it was anyway!)
