We've had the first time social experiment BBs (1-3), the boring one (BB4), the outrageous fight night one (BB5), the chav one (BB6) and the bitchy girl one (BB7).
However, I think this CBB showed that when they pushed the boundaries too much people will now complain and not put up with it. Ratings had a brief surge when the alleged racist bullying was going on but swiftly fell again. And they lost their sponsor.
Can we do with another normal BB again or will that be dismissed as boring?
I think one with more intensive tasks - especially psychological ones should be encouraged, but not so many twists. Maybe one like the American system where people can openly discuss nominations might prove interesting for one series.
Other than that I don't really know? Has it had its day?

I've always said they should do the thing where each person goes into the house with £2500, and when they are evicted, they go to the diary room and say who they are giving half their money to, and the rest of the housemates watch on the plasma screen. Each time someone is evicted, they have to give half to another housemate, anyone who walks gets nothing It will be full of chavs and vile people again in bb8, I can see it now.

it will be the same again next time with less viewers overall, the novelty is wearing thin.
if you put normal people in it will be to boring so its a loose loose situation

It wouldn't be boring if they went back to giving them proper week long tasks to earn their food budget so they had to work together
And no bringing in people half-way through

Putting aside everything, BB is still contracted to come on our screens until 2010 or something. So the show will probably still go on regardless.
But I agree, it is getting a tad repetitive. Maybe BB should do a task where they convert the whole house into a school and get teachers to actually teach the useless nobodies something useful. Then have a proper exam, set by an exam board. Maybe this way, they can get actually influence people watching the show etc.
Either way, people are switching off because, excluding media coverage, the hype about watching people sitting on their backsides has just fizzled out

Well to be fair BB7 was the third most successful series ever overall but I think CBB was far too much like that one (a house full of nasty women ). As the Channel 4 chief said the Jade vs Shilpa row saved it from being the biggest flop ever but they can't be any more controversial again surely. And the manipulation has to stop - ie Davina, Dermot and Russell being completely biased to housemates who end up working for Endemol (ie Nikki, Chantelle, Jade etc).... This is really becoming common knowledge.

The best thing they can actually do is rest the series for a year, but they will NEVER do that.
From the viewers perspective, C4 should drop this "bigger is better" attitude. I would like to see it back to half an hour every night, lasting for 8-9 weeks to avoid serious overkill. Around 12-14 housemates max. Can you believe that BB7 had 22 housemates in total - that is ridiculous.
I like Andy's idea about the money, and Homes' suggestion about being able to discuss noms. The most successful series' have had a very identifiable theme - i.e. (series 3: haves/have nots, series 5: evil BB). Both of those suggestions would create a theme to last the whole series. They could also have the revenge of the evictees (ie whoever is evicted gets to put someone up for nomination automatically). They could have two separate but competing houses and bring back the social/psychological experiment tone to the show.
The twists the producers introduce into the show make it tbh. BB has been far too character led the last few years, and the twists lately have been a bit underwhelming (the buddies task last year was very weak for example)

If they go back to basics, back to the original origin and point of Big Brother - it may just work. But they won't, and it'll be sh*te. And I'll probably watch again

Not worth starting a new thread but it is interesting to notice that Danielle who was going to be disgraced over her behaviour int he house seems to be on EVERY mag cover (of the Heat, Star, More nature)! Jo and Jade have largely disappeared. - seems bullying is OK as long as you're pretty..

Danielle's behaviour has been explained off as her being "young and naive". As Jade was most vociferous of Shilpa, she has dug her grave, and it will take a lot for her to recover Jo hasn't done herself any favours by lashing out at the producers, saying she has done nothing wrong and swearing on an unfair edit.
