Morrissey does what Oasis did in 2002 - come back with 2 number ones with take his total from 5 to 7. His total is 8 if you include his only #1 with the Smiths. (Should have been loads, of course).
Morrissey's most successful period was end of 1992-1995 when he had 4 #1s with 5 singles, including a duet with Siouxsie. The only one that wasn't, "Hold On To Your Friends" spent 4 weeks at #2 behind Pulp's "Babies". After "Boxers" though he released "Dagenham Dave" which was very bad but got to #11 - the chart was smaller then and it probably didn't even deserve that. Subsequently he has struggled until now. I did buy all the albums, but it's nice to see him back and sounding great again.
During the period 1992-95 I was actually Morrissey-obsessed and would be quoting him all the time (in a Sebastian Flyte kind of way). The Smiths even had two #1 albums in 1993. (They were released on CD for the first time on WEA in October 1993 and not March 1995 in spite of what the album chart appears to suggest).
Noting Badly Drawn Boy's entry at #10 - we have had quite a few entries inside the top 10 recently. He had a #1 with "Spitting In The Wind" in 2001 and a #2 with "You Were Right" in 2002.
