The Streets get to #1, and are the surprise act of the year in reaching the top, as I'd have said before the year that I didn't like them, and would have been very surprised to know they would be getting a #1. Prior to 2004 they had just one hit "Let's Push Things Forward", but they did also chart earlier in the year with "Fit But You Know It".
"Dry Your Eyes" is the first single to reach both NM #1 and UK #1 of 2004, the first since "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence. 2001 remains the only year that had none at all, although "Stan" by Eminem was #1 as the
year started, having topped both the UK and NM chart in 2000.
Keane get the highest new entry but it's entered lower than any of their previous singles did. Aberfeldy make their chart debut.
