Embrace remain at #1 but are immediately placed under threat by Paul McCartney, who flies in at #2 with his new single "Tropic Island Hum" backed up with a re-issue from 20 years ago, and like "We All Stand Together", "Tropic Island Hum" is from an animated cartoon, this time "Wirral The Squirrel". Right now "We All Stand Together" is in the same position as it peaked in the Christmas chart of 1984, where it was kept out by Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "The Power Of Love" but was above Band Aid. This is Paul McCartney's first big solo hit since "Beautiful Night" peaked at #3 at the end of 1997. As a soloist it's his first time back in the top 2 since "We All Stand Together" in 1984, though he did reach #1 as part of the Beatles with "Real Love" in 1996.
More comments will follow later.
