15 new entries this week. We're back to only 2 strikes as well.
Highest entry of the week goes to Adam Green, something he didn't manage last year when he entered at #12 with "Jessica". On that week I Am Kloot entered at #7 and subsequently prevented him from reaching #1. The song "Jessica" was about Jessica Simpson, who has never reached the NM chart though her sister is currently in the chart with her 2nd hit. Adam Green did get to #1 in 2002 as part of the Moldy Peaches.
An act who had an NM #2 early in 2003 and hasn't appeared since until this week are Readers Wifes - this single also released around the time of the Brit Awards, their previous hit was called "b**** At The Brits".
We lose one of the Elvis singles from the chart this week whilst gaining another. This CD had two B-sides, "Tonight Is So Right For Love" which is Elvis's attempt at a bit of swing, and is very good. The other is "Puppet On A String", not relation to the Sandie Shaw song. "Wooden Heart" was originally a hit for him in 1961 but was originally a German song, with the lyrics he sings in the second verse.
Several acts making their chart debuts this week. Apartment are indie-rock, Alison Krauss & Union Station are country/folk, Kimberley Locke is pop/R&B, and the other three (Narco, M83 and Little Flames) are more indie-based.
Paddy Casey is not new to the chart, having charted with "The Lucky One" last year.
U2, Beautiful South and Doves have all had NM #1s. Daniel Bedingfield's highest NM peak to date is #4 with "I Can Read You".
