Chart Commentary
And we have a new No.1 this week, and it comes from a songwriter, performer, producer and orchestrator, Mika produces one of the finest tracks of the year with a bang, ‘Grace Kelly’ taken from his debut album ‘Life In Cartoon Motion’ while Eric Prydz falls heavily to No.6. The Top 5 consists of some great tracks from The View, Klaxons, The Guillemots and My Chemical Romance follow their chart-topping No. 1 single 'Welcome To The Black Parade' and the 250,000-selling album 'The Black Parade' with the release of 'Famous Last Words', is the anthemic and emotive closing track that proves to be a fitting finale to the ambitious 'The Black Parade' album. Just Jack climbs 9 places to No.8 with 'Starz In Their Eyes' which shimmers with a relentless energy and razor-sharp hook, it bristles with a rich, luscious house-groove and is the second track to be taken from his eagerly awaited new LP 'Overtones'. 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race' marks a welcome return of Fall Out Boy, the most exciting rock breakthrough act of 2006. Taken from their eagerly anticipated new album 'Infinity On High', '...Arms Race' bears all the trademarks of a classic Fall Out Boy single, with its insanely catchy chorus, acid-tongue lyrics, climbs 5 places to No.9. Amy Winehouse returns back inside the top 10 at No.10 with 'You Know I'm No Good', the follow up to the brilliant 'Rehab', and taken from the universally acclaimed No.1 album 'Back To Black'. The highest new entry of 4 comes from the beautifully shape figure of Kylie Minogue I don’t usually include album tracks in my chart but for once I make an exception with a rich lavish track ‘White Diamond’ entering the chart at No.20. Metric, The Ordinary Boys, The Good, The Bad and The Queen and The Long Blondes make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40.
