Commentary
Kate Nash is once again number one on the charts, but she's got a lot of competition. Paramore overtake Rihanna's number one single 'Umbrella' and rest safely in the number two spot, and they are a possibility for number one next week. Also, Calvin Harris' smash hit 'The Girls' makes the highest debut on my chart ever at number four, and definitely a strong contender for number one. The White Stripes remain at number five.
There are also some strong singles in the top 10. Klaxon's move from 8 to 6 with 'It's Not Over Yet', and CSS break into the top 10 at 7. The Killers also rise slightly, while The Chemical Brothers make another impressive debut at 10. All of these are very strong possibilities for the top five, or maybe the number one spot. We'll just have to see.
Gwen Stefani makes a very impressive jump (15 places) with '4 in the Morning.' This is quite a shock, as before it looked like she was doomed to reside above the top 20 only. Now it looks like she could easily break into the top 10 next week. Some other activity in the top 20 includes rises from Arctic Monkeys, Melanie C, and Maximo Park. Out of all of these, Flourescent Adolescent is the strongest and most likely to do well. The other two may not break into the top 10.
One of the biggest falls in my chart occured this week too. Hellogoodbye fall 21 places to rest at 25. This is clearly due to the fact that unlike most people here, I'm from the US, and this song has been popular here for quite sometime. While I was glad to see other people charting it (thus I charted it high), I got bored of it quickly. If this was back in December or January when Here (In Your Arms) was popular in my country, it would have easily been a number one smash, and one of the most succesful singles in my chart.
