Of the very late Beautiful South songs my favourite was Manchester. Paul Heaton has also done so good solo work in the last 10 years including Biscuit Boy.

I have to agree with the very earlier poster about "Miaow" being probably the best of their albums. A band you'd not dare to buy their albums? Maybe, but "Miaow" and "Carry on.." were by far the best CDs I got in my lost past days as music editor of a student newspaper...
"Pretenders to the Throne" is a rather fab and pretty much overlooked single. As is "This Old Skin", which they pretended was a cover, but, well, wasn't (going so far as to make up a fake webpage for the band it was originally by). They got a bit hit-and-miss towards the end - but there was a real songwriting and performing talent there...
