Thanks for this - early 1988 was really exciting because SOOOOO many dance records exploded. Bomb the Bass was just about to debut in the top 5 soon too.

Great #1 and I could actually cry when I see the overall quality of these charts compared to the drivel of today!

great, great chart. one of the joint no 79s, IMO one of the very finest records there, by the Triffids, is actually called Trick of the LIGHT, not night...

One of my favourite charts....Here come the girls!! Debbie, Taylor and Kylie all broke into the Top 75 this week. Belinda at number one with one of the best songs ever and an anthem from Tiffany queued up to take over. And with House music about to explode....happy days!

Great chart - but who knew a member of #77 would end up in an act who are still around today, but utterly ruined their career as they got to big for their boots.

Morris Minor, blimey and JHJazz at #1 in the albums, blimey they soon feel from grace! Tony Hawks obviously is still well active in creative circles. JHJ were classic "who you know", Calvin Hayes is the son of Mickie Most. Note the obligatory Christmas charity single at 22 (Great Ormond Street Hospital), the members of The Beat who formed Fine Young Cannibals at 29, a sublime song at 31, a frantic one-hit-wonder at 42, a fine underrated indie band at 74, and one of the greatest singles of all time at 95. Unfortunately the sign of the imminent destruction of popular music was peeking in at 54...

I actually own about a third of that chart on 7"!!! With a brilliant number one as well.

#37 is another good one. Jermaine Stewart's "Say It Again" - love the verses.
