Motown is to release a new album of previously unreleased material by Diana Ross in the States in June entitled BLUE.
The tracks were recorded at the same time as those on Lady Sings The Blues (a #1 smash in the US) and was intended to be released as a sister album but then Motown decided to re-establish Diana in the pop charts and went with the Touch Me In The Morning set which on the back of a #1 single of the same name was a massive seller. (The press release claims it went to #1. I'm not altogether sure of this but I do know it was top 10).
The tracks were recently discovered in Motown's vaults.
While Diana was brilliant as Billie Holliday in the Lady film and should have won the Oscar for best actress that year being honest I have to admit that this type of music is not my favourite from her but with the dearth of any new material from her now I am eagerly looking forward to hearing this.
