I couldn't find a thread for this anywhere. I love Dolly Parton but thats not why i started this thread. I was wondering if any the older ones out there could remember a country album called Best Friends.
It featured Tammy Winette, Billy Jo Spears anyway various artists.
With songs like Blanket On The Ground and Your My Best Friend
Anyways had this album years ago and can't find it anywhere now probablly never will

Jerri I love those artists you mention! Co-incidentally have Dolly's Greatest Hits on now, put it on before I logged on! Never heard of that album though. I love female "old country artists". Love Billie Jo. My favourite is Tammy Wynette though. I've lots of her albums. The original Stand By Your Man album, released in the US in 1968 is fantastic. Pity most people know her for just one song. Have you tried Ebay for Best Friends?

I also like this stuff but i appreciate it is really old fashioned. What do you think? Wow that was a sad story with a thankfully happy ending. We used to have read-a-long books with accompanying vinyl but they were more traditional stories than musical ones.

I'm rather partial to a bit of ole C&W. Jolene by Dolly Parton must be one of my favourite songs. I barely knew the song until a few years ago, until I was having a conversation about most depressing songs of all time - and listening to the lyrics, it really really is a depressing cry for help song. Ultimately, I love it.
Modern wise, Rascall Flatts do the job quite nicely as pop C&W goes. Jenny Lewis, if you could call it alternative C&W.

My all-time fave Dolly song is "Here You Come Again". In fact it's probably in my top 10 songs of all-time.
Also loved the Straight Talk soundtrack from 1992.
