Heya guys, my name is Ravi and I'm one half of a pop/rock/jazz band, based in London. We've recently been on a high from winning a Battle of the Bands competition held in Central London, which entitles us to a gig at ULU (a fairly big student-based venue) - and two-days free recording with a producer in some London recording studios.
The band's name is Tale of Two Halves - please check out the music (www.myspace.com/taleoftwohalves), and add us if you are a myspacer - and above all let us know what you think, Merry Christmas, Ravi xx

Now all you have to do is release music and make it available on download sites like 7-Digital, preferably in the main section rather than the indie section although I don't know how that works exactly, and it might even get into my chart.

of it reaching the UK chart - have no idea, you need lots of promotion.
of it reaching the NM chart - it being available and listed so I actually know it's out and it being decent enough, and it also stands a lot more chance if it's released in a quieter week, although you've probably missed the very quiet period that is early January now.
I don't get the point of 7-Digital indie section, to be honest. They don't list them among the New Releases in the main section nor do they come up on searches there. I would rather they separated out albums from singles in the New Releases section and gave a bit of a genre description so I could pretty much skip the dance stuff, rather than them separating out the indie section.

Hi, welcome to haven. I listened to a few, i thought they all sounded pretty similar. Not that thats a bad thing as i love the Eagles and there stuff all sounds similar. I think its nice easy listening stuff stuff to relax too.

Do you ever make personal charts? Are you interested in personal charts made by others? Would you be particularly interested in mine, given it is quite possibly the chart you are most likely to do reasonably well in.

what exactly is a personal chart. i thought it meant to make a compilation of one person's avourite songs that week/month etc regardless of release (ie album tracks can feature) x

It is usually up to the person who compiles the chart what the rules are, but you got the basics right, it is one person compiling a chart based on their opinion and usually is based on current music, and it is up to the compiler whether they include album tracks.
My own chart generally does not chart album tracks unless it is listed as a future single release. I do sometimes chart B-sides if I prefer them to the A-side.
Whilst many think they are not important, those of us who do post them here will often look at those of other people who like similar music to ourselves and use it to introduce us to further music which we may go on to buy. So if your songs get into my chart it is possible it will expose them to others who are reading the chart, particularly if there is a video on youtube.com I can post a link to. (I generally prefer a youtube link than myspace).
