Tie One: Stone Roses vs Oasis Oasis were the only band to get 100% from the first four votes... and until the old-music folk came along, it looked as if the Battle Of Manchester was going to be a slaughter. But four votes in a row from the likes of Sofie and Thorney made it up to 7-6 in Oasis' favour...
In the end, ONE OF THEM ran away with it. But which one?
Stone Roses 8 Oasis 13

Tie Two: Muse vs Red Hot ChilisThis was the closest tie in the entire contest. PaulM was only the second voter, and he said it was "too hard" Here's how the voting went: 03 VOTES: Muse 0-3 RHCP 06 VOTES: Muse 3-3 RHCP 08 VOTES: Muse 5-3 RHCP 11 VOTES: Muse 7-4 RHCP 14 VOTES: Muse 7-7 RHCP 16 VOTES: Muse 7-9 RHCP 18 VOTES: Muse 9-9 RHCP That was the situation with just THREE votes remaining. One of the bands got TWO votes. One of the bands got One vote. Which will it be? My personal favourite band, AKA the Best Live Act of All Time (Brit awards say so, NME ones will do so soon ) OR the band who produce the occasional great rock song, but a lot of very poor album tracks. Muse 10 RHCP 11 No, I'm not bitter at all

Tie Three: Manic Street Preachers vs BlurOne of the favourites for the competition against Them Cockeney Louts. The band who ALMOST knocked out Radiohead, against the one who ran U2 and Queen close in the group stages that was round 3. Parklife against a design for one. 12-9 to BLUR

Let's have three-in-a-row:
Tie Four: Travis vs U2
Travis sneaked their way into this round, but they started very well against U2. But it was only 8-6 at the Turning of the Page. U2 rallied...
But it wasn't enough.
Travis : 12 U2 : 9
Tie Five: Radiohead vs Depeche Mode Tie Six: REM vs Ash
These two are both too one-sided to waste the time of my writing it and your waiting to read it.
Radiohead 15-6 Depeche Mode REM 15-6 Ash
Meet the top two scorers of round four.

Tie Seven: The Rolling Stones vs Queen
Ah, OldRock... a puzzler of Andy from the off, this one! He voted for the Rolling Stones The next SIX people voted for Queen. But then SIX of the next SEVEN voted for the Rolling Stones.
Still with me?
That means that, after two thirds of the votes, the score was...
7-7.
Just how did it finish?
Tie Eight: The Beatles vs The Smiths
England have played Germany at football, Bellamama and Wylee have gone head to head over smileys, Will Young and Gareth Gates once scrapped like care-free schoolchildren. But no skirmish is more anticipated, more important than this one.
The TIE OF THE ROUND. Last time, The Beatles and The Smiths amassed an amazing NINETY-SIX points between them, and they got almost twice as much each than the rest of the group did. But now the pretenders have gone. Stone Roses and Depeche Mode have both been consigned to the losers column, and now so must one of these.
Who won?
