Having just seen the Stereophonics perform 8 songs for a special VH2 session, I can't wait for this album's release.
It's right back to their roots, grungy, gravely, bluesy rock 'n' roll tunes, filled with power chords galore and lovely AC/DC inspired riffs.
The songs I heard were very similar to Word Gets Around, their 1st album, and (thankfully) nothing like the middle of the road turds on JEEP.
Bring it on! & a stadium tour in September. ;D

Dandy almost in agreement with Kris shocker!
I'm actually considering buying this - Dakota is easily the best thing they've done ever, were the rest of the tracks you heard along a similar line?

i don't know... i've lost faith in them almost totally over the past few years, though i still maintain that their first 2 albums are damn good. "dakota" is ok but it doesn't blow me away like i would have wanted it to

Dandy almost in agreement with Kris shocker! Quite similar yeah. Although Dakota is not 'easily' the best thing thye've ever done! That'd go to 'Looks Like Chaplin', 'Same Size Feet' or 'Watch Them Fly On Sundays'

i have a soft spot for "just looking"... it's got to be that or "a thousand trees" for me. "pick a part" is ace too. "watch them fly sundays" was the best thing from JEEP but that ain't saying much

Just looking and pick a part are poor though mate! Plastic Calafornia & Is Yesterday Tomorrow Today? are the stand out tracks from Performance & Cocktails

aww, "pick a part" is great! the reason i like "just looking" though is more because it brings back memories for me... the actual quality of the song isn't anything special, but it goes back a long way...

Well, considering how I rate WGA and P&C as 'average', and am not fond of what I've heard since then... can I really expect LSVO to be the best thing they've done so far?

dakota is better than the last 2 albums but still WAAAY behind the stuff from the first two. they need to blow my socks off with the next single to even make me think about getting the album.

Was at a bar last night and put on Dakota on the Jukebox. I'd heard it before but had not connected to Stereophonics. Anyways, I like it!! Didn't care much for last 2 albums but am curious to hear more now!
