I've been wondering for a while what the beautiful music on the trailers for the BBC's 'Planet Earth' series is, and have just found out that its this song. I have a vague recollection of it scraping the top 40 last year - however, I've noticed that it has been playlisted by Radio 1 recently. Does anyone know if the single is going to be re-released, and if so, when?
Also, can anyone tell me a bit about the song and/or the band. I'd particularly like to know what album the track features on - also, do you think I have much chance of picking up an old copy of 'Hoppipolla' anywhere?
Thanks in advance. ;D

Hoppipolla is a great record, was playing it alot on my radio show around the time of it's first release.. it's a shame some of these decent tracks need exposure like this to get them noticed and popular

indeed - this is a GREAT band, but I'd caution most on running to buy it. It IS quite an aquired taste. Swirling guitars and lyrics in a made up language (no joke)... Best album is Agaetis Byrjun but Takk is best for people as a first album...
will have a review of Takk up soon on my site in fact...

I loved this when I saw it on mtv2, got a mad video where old guys and gals dress up ready for a battle with other old guys and gals, basically they act like teenage gangs, kicking bins, knocking on doors and stealing things, class tune though. Hope downloads c an get it back in the charts! Not sure where it peaked 1st time around?

35-79-108-143-OUT
1st re - 218-248-OUT
2nd re - 248-190-105-78-
Only 1 week in the top 75 is criminal, I wonder where it is in the mids, hopefully top 75, or even better top 50!

Should this be in the indie forum as well?

Well most on here will know that I loved this last year, still sounds haunting and Takk is a great album if you approve of this.

Thanks all for your help. I'm really intrigued by everything that I've heard said about Sigur Ros, although I suspect they're probably going to be one of those 'love or hate' things... I'll soon find out which side of the fence I sit on, as I'm getting the album 'Takk'! BTW, if anyone's interested, its going for a bargainous £6.50 on hmv.co.uk at the mo.
