Is the lowish rating because it sounds almost identical tunewise to Keane's Everybody's Changing? Nah, for me, I'm not really getting this album. You would have thought that a band of their talent would really push the boat out one of these days and produce something that raises the hair on the back of the neck etc... but apart from a few newish discoey sounds it's IDENTICAL to their previous album albeit with less good tunes as 'Time is Running Out', 'Backfire' and 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' Disappointing I hadn't noticed that but, yes, it's the over-commercial sound of it that I don't like. I still like the more electro tracks but it sometimes veers too close to Queen territory for me to think it's great.

I read some interesting initial views on this album last week from various different forums. Mixed views really, some thought it was fantastic up there with the best stuff theyve done. Others thought although it had great songs, it didnt flow as well as their other albums. Also there were no standout tracks on the album (which from the bits of the album I've heard was my thought too).
I'm thinking of buying it for the 3 of the 4 singles, (I never thought I'd consider buying a Muse album!) Starlight is the next one which is growing on me atm, and I like Map of the Problematique which is lined up for single release too apparently. The Cydonia track has ben released in US, so its a dead cert for single release over here, that hasnt hit me yet, but many people think its the best song on the album. The comments about it not flowing doesnt bother me, because I rarely listen to an album from start to finish anyway, like to dip in and out.

Album sum-up... Take a Bow :: good opener Starlight :: great, and yes it was wonderful at Reading Supermassive Black Hole :: nice and phunky Map Of The Problematique :: immense, one of the highlights of the album Soldiers Poem :: ok, but eclipsed by... Invincible :: excellent mid-muse-album-slow-song, possibly better even than unintended Assassin :: not grown much on me yet I Exo-Politics :: not grown much on me yet II City of Delusion :: not grown much on me yet III Hoodoo :: pretty good, nice different mexicano influenche Knights of Cydonia :: fantastic - highlight of the album, and possibly already in my top 5 muse songs. Tracks 7-9 I haven't really listened to enough yet... Overall: this album rivals OOS

It's an album for kiddies - a commercial sell out.

It's an album for kiddies - a commercial sell out. This was my biggest fear. I've put off buying this album because the tracks that they've released sound more commercial than anything they've done previously. I'm a huge fan of Muse, but it sounds like they're going backwards...
