was just thinking out of all the good debut bands that came out in 2003, 2004 and 2005 has any really delivered a better follow up?
The killers - new song is sh*te
Razorlight - new song is average, a grower but not upto the last album
franz ferdinand - was ok but nowhere near as good as take me out and matinee
the open - was average and they split
the darkness - crap compared to growing on me and i believe in a thing called love
the zutons - why wont you give my your love, i really like, for me its the best follow up out of the bands mentioned
kasabian - not heard yet, im praying its good
keane - a good follow up tune, but the singles off the last album were as good
22-20s - no sign of new stuff
the blueskins - the demo's i heard are very poor
kaiser chiefs - nothing new yet, cant see them making anything better
the only follow up tune that blew me away was "Chikinki - you said" it is awsome, i love it

Snow Patrol did ok with "You're All I Have" but they should have gone with "Chasing Cars" first (I realise their 2004 album wasn't their debut but it was their major breakthrough album). Also, I like the new Killers song.

Skip To The End wasn't as good as most of The Futureheads first album too... "Worry About It LAter" is much better. Why they didn't release that first who knows. Would like to hear the new Kasabian track, but we have to wait until it's released next week.

I would agree that keane and the zutons have had the best second album singles. Ive not listened to the killers, and im not really sure that from what i have heard that i want to

Yeah, it was something to do with the difficulty of being in a blues band trying to appeal to people or summat.

That isn't Snow Patrol's second album, off the top of my head I think it's their fourth.

I dunno... I have "songs for polar bears" and after the first few months of owning it, I've barely played it. Don't play "final straw" anymore either.

Their best album is When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up. I'd say Final Straw and Songgs for Polarbears I'd rate the same, but quite different.. Eyes Open is my least favorite album. As always - the best of ALL is of course Reindeer Sections, Son of Evil Reindeer. 10/10!!

The Killers new single is the biggest pile of shíte I've heard in years! Listening to "The Dutchess" is preferable!

I agree a clutch of the opening singles off second albums this year have been average to poor, (especially Razorlight) but there have been some definate imporvements too
Hot Chip-Over and Over-Electrifying stompfest, brought them deservedly to public attention
Hope of the States-Sing it Out-Their weakest link became their strongest part as Sam's vocals really stood out. (Blood Meridian was also good)
The Delays-Valentine-A bold change and very good track.
The Rapture-Get Myself Into It-To come back from a three year absence with such a simple yet effective beat was impressive and unexpected.
Jet-Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is-No...this is rubbish
