Akon - Don’t Matter
The 3rd single to be released from the "Konvicted" album sees Akon rap over a smooth laid back Jamaican beat. This is a great radio friendly track about two lovers who shouldnt be together, but fight for their right to be together. Not as raw and Sexual as "Smack That" or "I wanna Love you", which isnt a bad thing, as this track stands out without the filth.
RATING: Out Of 5
Amerie - Take Control
Oh yeah, Im loving this funky track. Amerie has a great vocal over this, telling her lover to "Take control of me" in a very demanding way. I wouldnt say no. A great song from a great production team consisting of Amerie, Len Nicholson, Mike Caren, and Cee-Lo. Very Catchy and has me nodding my head.
RATING:
Funeral For A Friend - Into Oblivion (Reunion)
Got to say, I quite enjoyed this track after turning my headphones down a bit. Great soaring guitar with loud and proud chorus "I stand to Oblivion". A good first single from the future album "Tales Don’t Tell Themselves". The type of song to smash your head with 30,000 others in concert and shouting out the chorus....Rock On.
Rating:
Jamie T – Sheila
I had to re-check the tracklisting for this tune, I thought this was mike Skinner from the streets. A very streets like track from the MC from south-west London suburb of Wimbledon. This song tells the tale of a drunken Sheila which ends in tragedy. With lyrics like "Sheila goes out with her mate Stella, which she pours all over her fella" gives you an idea what to expect.
If you are into the streets, then this will be up your street. Im a rap fan, but not keen on this one and definately not radio friendly.
RATING:
JoJo – Anything
What the ****. Thought I played the wrong track here as the song kicks off with Toto's song "Africa" then uses the backing beat for the tiny pop princess to stroll along with her lyrics. Nice and girly, but not my cup of tea, especially with the lyrics like: "Cause I just can't stay away ,There's nothing that I can do ,And baby you can have your way ,Just as long as I can have you"
RATING :
Linkin Park – What I’ve Done
'What I've Done' is the first single be taken from Linkin Park's new album, 'Minutes To Midnight'. Nothing different here from any other Linkin Park track, and in my opinion, if you have heard one, you have heard them all.
RATING:
Maccabees – Precious Time
Oh yes from the first Mod/Indie beat, this is really catchy. If the vocals were more stronger, this would be a cracker of a song. Often sounds like Fergal sharkey. The Guitar riffs carry this song off though and at times can be compared to the Strokes.
RATING: for Beat for Vocal
McFly – Baby’s Coming Back / Transylvania
Oh my God, have they not gave up on their music (if you call it that) Career. NO NO No...skip the track...Oh no a double A-side. More Pain. AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH
RATING:
Meat Loaf – Cry Over Me
The second single from the hugely popular "Bat Out of Hell 3"
A very raw, emotional, rock and operatic song that should be played at full blast. Wake up the neighbourhood with this four and a half minute classic.
Rating:
Ray Lamontagne – Jolene
Jolene is the third single to be taking from the platinum album Trouble. Very depressive and boring. The only highlight from this cd single is the excellent accoustic cover of Gnarls Barkleys Crazy.
RATING:
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Hump De Bump
Another single release from the double album "Stadium Arcadia". "Hump" has a mixture of the old chillis funk and new rock chillis. Not their best release, but still Very catchy, so "Hump de Bump".
RATING:
Rob Thomas – Little Wonders
From the new Disney Movie, "Meet the Robinsons, Rob has created a nice smooth meaningfull ballad. A really good soul lifter as what you would expect from a disney movie song.
RATING: and a half
Scooch – Flying The Flag (For You)
Britains entry for Eurovision , that brings us a combination of euro pop and a cheesy steps song. Catchy and would probably go down well with kids of the age of ten. Sorry, but we have to do better. "Your exits are here, here and here", Britains exit has exited before the competition has started.
