Anyone checked this out yet? If you haven't, you should, because it's brilliant, a real step forward from the still-great Witching Hour.

Big Ladytron fan here!
Was really surprised how good it is actually, I think it's their most accessible album.
Runaway, Burning Up and Deep Blue are my highlights.

I think my current favourite is 'I'm Not Scared'. I'm also loving 'Burning Up' and 'They Gave You A Heart..'

It's "album of the year" so far for me!!! My favourites are "Runaway", "Predict The Day", and the final 3 songs...
I love how this album builds into a climax... Reminds me of "Adore" in its scope...
Should have done better in the charts...

i think it's more a b-sides of witching hour with a couple 'singles' thrown in. i don't here anyhting new/different. But their albums typically lack considstency so no surprise. anyways, saw them a couple months at the Astoria but they had electrical problems so had to stop 1/2 through... replacement show is this wed - should be good!

It surely has similarities with the Witching Hour but I don't think that this album's songs are inferior to those on WH... OK I still do prefer WH as an album but this is nearly as good... I would have prefered if they moved on from WH but still why would you mess with a formula when it works perfectly well... Ladytron have a distinctive sound now... And considering there are zillions of electro-pop-rock bands for them being distinctive means something... There are still some songs on this album that don't have to do with WH... For example closer "Versus" which has male vocals and acoustic guitars... And "Predict The Day" which is bolder and sharper than anything they've ever done... Also those whistles hehe... There's "Season Of Illusions" which features Mira singing properly and not in monotone like she usually sings... This song is also different to anything they've done on WH... And how can one forget "Runaway" with it's big 80's drums... "They Gave You A Heart, They Gave You A Name" has both Mira and Helen exchanging voices... While that has been done before in the past it was something that WH lacked... Although all these are minor changes I think that it still gives enough credit for Velocifero to stand on it's own!

i'll stick with no big singles, but good consistency on Velocifero (but WH better). no real arguement here 2nd gig was MUCH better... still they lacked punch in a lot of songs, seeming to purposely tone some of them down, when they could have been stomping barnstormers... the lack of treble was esp apparent. still tho, quite good gig... 6/10 i'd say (which puts it in top 10 of year... no i don't have a list - just guessing

Weirdly, I didn't actually get 'Runaway' when I downloaded the album, so I still haven't heard it.

I noticed on the release schedule that Tomorrow is the next single. IMO it's one of the best songs they've ever recorded. I can never decipher their lyrics but the music is just beautiful. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=U2u6aFi8ZIQ

Yeah... From the first time I heard "Tomorrow" it has always been my favourite from the album! I wonder why it took so long to release it as a single... but at least finally they did so! GO LADYTRON!
