Golf and rugby sevens have today been voted into the programme for the 2016 games.
Golf returns to the Olympics for the first time since 1904 whilst rugby sevens will be making its debut, though the 15-a-side version was included until 1924.
The IRB is to end the World Sevens tournament to ensure the Olympic tournaments are the pinnacle of 7-a-side rugby.
Both sports received the necessary number of votes to gain inclusion at today's vote in Copenhagen. Golf gained 63 votes in favour, with 27 against, whist rugby sevens 81 votes in favour, with just 8 against.
IOC President Jacques Rogge has long been a supporter of rugby's inclusion in the Olympics. Rogge himself previously represented Belgium at international level.
