Got this today, and I have to be honest, I'm pretty disappointed on first listen. Almost none of the tracks grabbed me (apart from 'You On A Good Day' and 'Side Chick'). Hopefully things'll improve with subsequent listens.

I've never been a Sugababes album-buyer, I've got the 'Singles Collection' and I recieved the revamped version of 'Taller In More Ways' as a birthday present but i did buy 'Change' last year and i think it's a fantastic album. 'Girls' is quite frankly a rubish lead (if not any sort of) single, so that's completely put me off and the fact all i've read about is the girls stating how rushed it was and how they'll be happy to take time on the next one. The fact it's under £7 in Asda is swaying me a little though Keep us posted on it Dan.

I'm quite the opposite Dan
I find Sugababes to be very hit and miss but I listened to this and was very impressed and this will actually be the first Sugagabes album I will buy

I'm pretty sure it'll grow on me. I just wasn't entirely convinced on first listen. Some of my now-favourite albums were like that to begin with.

Its a big grower, on 1st listen I wasn't overly taken, but a few listens down the line It's now up there with my fav sugababes albums. I'm a big fan of the girls but I hated Change so I'm glad that they've come back with something much better.
It does lack the stand out singles of previous albums but i think it's more consistent in quality and tone. 2 thumbs up!

Have all their other albums and love at least 70% of each of them, however Catfights & Spotlights leaves me cold. Literally the only songs I like are : -
Girls Sunday Rain Sound Of Goodbye
Everything else sounds generic crap to me. Eevery Broken Heart is a major disappointment. I was expecting something dark and brooding but it is well little and slightly whimsical sh1t. The next single is so bad it hurts to hear it. The on other halfway decent song is Hanging On A Star. I kno the album was made in a matter of weeks but honest to God they could have done a lot lot better!!!!

Not got the album yet but its on order from play.com - I've heard the single and 2 other tracks which sound pretty good! 'Murder One' or whatever it's called sounds really good, much better than 'Girls'. I don't think this album will be a big seller as it lacks that killer pop single that their others have had, but I think they're proud of it and based on what I've heard so far, so they should be!

Despite the lead single, Catfights and Spotlights is a really strong album and certainly one of their best albums. They have completely moved away from the electro-pop sound from the past and completely progressed but at the same time they have gone back to a similar sound of their superb debut album. Like many, Sugababes have the sixties sound throughout a few of the tracks. It's mostly a midtempo affair with only 2 uptempo songs (both the weakest on the album) but vocally and lyrically they are fantastic.
Highlights: You On A Good Day, Side Chick, Every Heart Broken, Sunday Rain and the beautiful acoustic version of About You Now.

It's a shame that GIRLS was released first. SIDE CHICK is the catchiest tune on the album and it would have had a wider appeal to the public. NO CAN DO, a crafty little 60's homage (to be released as the next single), may help a bit, but GIRLS as the lead single was a mistake. t's a shame as the rest of the album - which is quite different - is much better.
If you weren't thinking of getting it, don't dismiss it on the basis of GIRLS. Just remember the consistency of their work over the years. They would have faded a long time ago had their suff been predictale.

Here's my tuppence worth: I had read really mediocre reviews of the album and went in with a "oh, I an going to be really disappointed with this", but personally, I think this is some of their better material, and as a *whole* it flows much much better than their previous albums. It doesn't stray too far from the Sugababes sound, just the sound is much more consistent and, I hate to say it, just a bit more classy. You On A Good Day No Can Do Sunday Rain Every Heart Broken ...are my favourite tracks so far. And whilst I despise any song that uses the word "chick" (no idea why, just bugs me a bit) - Side Chick is also very good track. I give it a 9 out of 10 as Sugababes albums go. There, I will stop waxing lyrical now.

One negative though: the album title is terrible.

OT: but did you like the All Saints non-single title "Chick Fit"? Or the We Are Scientists track "Chick Lit" ? Or the Shanks and Bigfoot #1 "Sweet Like Chiclot" or something.

Nope, didn't like any of those. Especially "Chick Fit" - yoikes, awful. Guffaw at Sweet Like Chiclot! Though Chikki Chikki Aah Aah is 80's wonderful.

The second half is much better than the first! But the first is really really poor. They've done much better No way! You On A Good Day would make a much much better second single. But then saying that No Can Do is a very good track. Much less patchy and all over the shop than the previous albums.
