From the BET awards yesterday, presenting an award. I for one, think she looks absolutely stunning. Women half her age don't look half as good. I'm so excited for her new album. Word is that her label are gearing up for a Spring release and that the new material is excellent. She is said to have worked with Ne-Yo, R. Kelly (on at least two songs - I Look To You and Hum (Don't Wanna Hear It), Ryan Tedder, Akon, Diane Warren and even Timbaland (on a track called Undefeated). I really think this will be a huge comeback for her and I really admire her strength and personal journey. She's really got her life back on track and left all the mess with Bobby and the drugs behind her. Now she's concentrating on being a great Mother and singing. I love all her albums but my all time favourite is My Love is Your Love. It came at the perfect time (late 90s) and showed how divas could still be relevent and not just sing huge power ballads. Every song was single material and I adore It's Not Right But It's Okay and My Love is Your Love (lyrically, one of my favourite songs ever!). Anyone else got love for "the voice"?

I liked her first three albums but haven't bought anything since then except the double Greatest Hits and The Ultimate Collection. My favourite song is All At Once from her debut album but not a UK single.

Whitney rocks!
Her records were always on in our house, my Sisters loved her.
My favourite songs are 'Saving All My Love For You', 'I Have Nothing' and 'Queen Of The Night'.
I really hope 'Like I Never Left' is featured on the new album. Ever since TTB posted the link (back in August i think) i've never stopped listening to it.

'Like I Never Left' is my jam! It wasn't even the finished version. It was the rough demo that Akon recorded with her that leaked. She was apparently very mad when she found out. (Visions of her having "KIZZ MY AZZ!" moments, like she did on her reality show with Bobby Brown).
Chris, 'All At Once' is one of my favourite Whitney songs ever. Had they released it officially as a single (it was radio only in the USA), it could've extended her run of 7 consequtive #1s to 8.
You should definitely check out My Love is Your Love or the Just Whitney album. The latter was criminally underrated because people cared more about her personal life than her music at the time.

I love Whitney - she is looking so much better in these photos.
I am really looking forward to the new material - the list of people she has worked on her new album looks impressive. Diane Warren is an excellent songwriter, and I really don't mind R Kelly as well. As long as she doesn't feel the need to have all and sundry featuring on the songs (Whitney ft Timbaland, Whitney ft Ne-yo, the producer, and the producers dog etc) I think it should be very good.

I'll check those two out then TTB. Yeah I'm sure All At Once would have been another US No.1 and big hit here, top 5 for sure. I first heard it on a promotional compilation album that I won from Radio 2 in a competition and her own album wasn't even out then!

I think she's cautious not to have an album of collaborations or guest stars (or even trying to reinvent herself with some radically different sound). Her mentor Clive Davis stated: "We're not going to compromise who she is to fit into today's hip-hop radio market. The public wants Whitney material." Which is reassuring. I think they'll try and make a modern day My Love is Your Love, which showed Whitney with modern producers like Wyclef Jean and Missy Elliot but still retaining that classic Whitney sound. This is R Kelly singing one of the songs he has written for the new album: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=32pKUftFBu8It's so beautiful. It will be a fantastic ballad with the right production.

Love love Whitney!! She's just THE VOICE. Forget Celine or whoever, Whitney is the voice for me. She's got a quality in her voice, I find more "human' or organic... I still remember buying the Whitney LP back in 87 when I was a kid My fav song of hers is I Learned from the Best off My Love is Your Love: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtlNg83Dw1Y

Since there's a lot of attention on the Superbowl and Jennifer Hudson's incredible performance, here's a bit of nostalgia from the 1991 Superbowl: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qciWEufZ2xAThat is the unbeatable rendition of the National Anthem that really proves who is the best singer in the world. News on the comeback? She's finishing recording and a release date will be announced soon. Ne-Yo has said that Whitney does not want "sad songs" on her album because it does not reflect the happy place she is in now.

Whitney Houston Is 'Sounding Great,' Says Songwriter Sean Garrett'She's definitely gonna be back,' the Beyoncé collaborator says of Whit's new music. Add Sean Garrett to the growing list of songwriters and producers set to work on Whitney Houston's comeback album. The Beyoncé collaborator told MTV News last week that he's scheduled to record two songs with Houston shortly. Garrett said he recently met with Clive Davis to discuss material for her album. Davis, currently the chief creative director of Sony Music Worldwide, originally signed Houston and has been instrumental in her career ever since. "She's sounding great," Garrett said of Houston. "I met with Clive yesterday in New York. She's gonna hear the records that I did for her this week, and we'll be getting in the studio cutting them. The records that she has are great. She's sounding great. She's definitely gonna be back." A Houston track leaked onto the Web a few months ago. The midtempo song, called "Like I Never Left," was produced by Akon. There's no word whether the track will appear on her album, which is currently untitled and tentatively set for release this year. In late 2007, Akon talked to us about working with Houston. He said the singer has a range of emotions she would be diving into on her project. "Her voice is strong enough to deliver any message she wants to sing to the world," he explained. "It's outta here." Ne-Yo also said he would be working with Houston, as did John Legend, who said the process would be memorable regardless if the songs make the final project. Garrett echoed Legend's sentiments. The songwriter, who has worked with Ciara and Usher, called the chance to work with Houston "the highlight of my career." He said the songs that he's heard so far, including numbers by R. Kelly, are excellent."Everybody is excited to be working on her album," Garrett said. "The camaraderie is great." Houston is looking to move music to the forefront of her life again. In March 2005, the singer checked herself into rehab for a second time to deal with an unspecified abuse. Her ex-husband, singer Bobby Brown, whom she divorced in April 2007, claimed in his biography that his ex-wife introduced him to drug use. Expect LOTS of Whitney news soon. She's set to not only appear at Clive Davis' pre-grammy party but PERFORM as well.
BEVERLY HILLS, California — Every year on Grammy Awards weekend, Clive Davis puts his stamp on the artist he feels will be the next blue-chip performer under his wing. The nod has become almost as important as winning a Grammy itself. This year, however, Davis' biggest splash will be an act he discovered decades ago: Whitney Houston.
She's rehearsing around 9 p.m. tonight," Davis said on Thursday afternoon, during practices for his legendary extravaganza at the Beverly Hilton. The music mogul — who has been Houston's godfather figure as much as he has been one of the people guiding her career — hinted that Grammy-winning singer would have product in the marketplace sooner than we expect. "You wait for the great songs to be written," Davis said about the long-awaited comeback album from one of his most prized prodigies. "The great hits Whitney has given to the public for so many years — you keep encouraging and setting the bar. R. Kelly and Whitney just went into the studio with a great song called 'I Look to You.'
"The same way her debut album took a while to put together, you just don't do it by going into a computer. You wait for the material to justify a new album," he added. "Pretty much, it's come in."
Davis said that Houston is going into the lab with hitmaker David Foster next week to record a ballad called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I hope the album retains the vintage Whitney sound. Also, it should be a little lengthier because she has a lot to say. To me, her most underrate singles are "Thinking About You" produced and featuring Kashif, the B-side track, "Dancing On Smooth Edge" and "Love That Man."

More news about the album production. I can't WAIT! Swizz Beatz did songs for Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey etc. so not just hip-hop artists. I'm so excited to hear her new music.
Whitney Houston Ready For 'Showtime,' Records Swizz Beatz Track By NjaiJoszor | Posted on 04/09/09 | Filed Under: R&B News, Whitney Houston
Iconic voice Whitney Houston has gone "Showtime" -- the popular word associated with club-banging producer Swizz Beatz !
Known widely for pumping out hits like Eve's "Tambourine" and his own single "Money In The Bank," Swizz Beatz admitted to hitting the studio with Whitney Houston recently.
"Just wrapped up with Whitney Houston, first single's a smash," Swizz Beatz mentioned via Rap-Up.com.
Houston, rumored to be linked with R. Kelly, Will.I.Am, and possibly Ne-Yo, is poised for a massive comeback later this year and according to Swizz Beatz "She's comin' back crazy".

Clive Davis held a listening party for the new album this week and Whitney fans have been piecing together various comments from attendees from Twitter and it's all very good news!:
"The Whitney listening session went very well. She has some hits and will be back in a very big way this summer. Stay tuned!"
"It went very well.. most were rough cuts but you will all be very happy.. one song had me tearing up."
"Not sure if any of the records we did will end up on it - but she has done some great new records and sounds really good."
"It looks like a June single and a September album..."
