Lots and lots of rumors were floating around about which song would serve as the boot song for American Idol Season 8. David Cook’s “Daily AntheM and “Long Way” a new song from Daughtry’s upcoming album were rumored to be in the running.
As it turns out, It’s a remake of Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home” recorded by Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, that will send ousted Season 8 contestants on their way home.
Season 4 American Idol winner, four-time GRAMMY winner, and 2009 ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Carrie Underwood has recorded a song for the new season of American Idol. The song, a remake of Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home," will air each week as the farewell theme for contestants leaving the show. The song will make its debut on American Idol on March 11, as the next contestant becomes eliminated from the show. "Home Sweet Home" will release as a digital single, found exclusively at iTunes through March 16, and will subsequently be available at online music retailers everywhere.
The release of the single will support a cause dear to Carrie's heart as Carrie, 19 Recordings, and Sony Music Nashville will donate a portion of the sales proceeds from "Home Sweet Home" to The Humane Society of the United States (www.hsus.org).
“I’ve always loved this song,” says Carrie, “and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes.”
“We felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like The HSUS,” says Carrie.
