Yes, this is an absolute must. I've been inspired by the guys at sayhey.co.uk Off Topic. They say that fans got 80's cheesemeisters Bucks Fizz got Polydor to re-issue their back catalogue remastered! Now I know we can all get this to happen for our Toy Toy. Now I know Polydor have La Toya Jackson & My Special Love But who owns Heart Don't Lie & Imagination. I know Epic released HDL, but who owns Epic now? Also I know that Private-I who released Imagination was a subsidary of CBS, but who owns them? Rather than a petition I thought simply emailing the relevant companies individually would be better. The more volume the more likely it will happen. ------ LTJ & MSL info@polydor.co.ukHDL & Imagination www.sonymusic.com/about/feedback.cgi name drop Michael and maybe Janet (in a positive way) if you can.

Epic & CBS are both under Sony. The best move might be to track down a site (well, message board) called The Velvet Rope not to do with janet though. It a site where industry insiders post. I honestly think her albums well sell a good 100k if issued. At least 50k to the very hardcore Jackson fans + toy fans + those who are curious after seeing the vh1 documentry & we know that certain music crowds are interested in her music as a thread was posted with loads of R&B fans commenting on her music.

My message:
Hi, I know you must have hundreds of requests to re-issue cds every day but the fanbase of the fabulous LaToya Jackson, would like to know whether you will consider releasing her albums 'Heart Don't Lie' and 'Imagination' (under Private-I/CBS) on CD. Although they're availble as cd albums in Japan, they are extremely rare and expensive. Theres definately a market for them as the worlds media have reported on how the Jackson Family Fanbase is supporting Michael as his 'troubles' continue and most of these are not just fans of Michael but of the entire family. The sucess of her new single 'Just Wanna Dance' has had fantastic dance sucess and shows her rapidly growing fanbase. We've supported the amazing LaToya throughout her troubled marriage and throughout her career so please consider this for a second. Just to hear the remastered sounds of Heart Don't Lie would make us all tremble to our knees. Yours in shared Toy Love! James
Hows that? *is nervous*

That's lovely. I will send one too:
Dear Sony,
I have heard that you own the rights to two albums by La Toya Jackson.
- Heart Don't Lie (Epic, 1984) - Imagination (Private-I/CBS, 1986)
I like many fans are desparate for these. Please, please, please, make these albums available for fans to buy in shops and online.
Much love - Jamie

Anyone got any idea how much the rights are worth? I would expect them to sell for a bit if they were sold but they shouldnt be worth a penny as all her records have been OOP for ages & she no video/airplay. Maybe Ja-Tail should buy them & sell them (as mp3s) through their site/i-tunes.

Awesome campaign guys!! I'll definitely be doing my part..
I read this book a year ago called "Hit Men" about the US Music Industry.. Apparently the label LaToya was on from 84-86 - Private I Records was run by a shady mob-connected industry "promoter" named Joe Isgro (do a search on him) in assoc. with CBS (sony).. Sony should be able to reissue it, but in they are unable to, it might be because Private I controls the masters and it's independent of Sony now.. since the last release on Private I was Rick James' 1997 comeback - "Urban Rapsody" and that was thru Mercury/Polygram.. I'm sure that Sony still retains rights to to the LaToya stuff, but if they don't, there's still another place to go to.
Also, with regards to her first two albums on Polydor, you guys should check out the Hip-O Select forum (http://www.hip-oselect.com/boards/).. The parent company Universal has this new label where they reissue rare albums that didn't sell enough to justify a general reissue.. The fans go on the forums to request the reissues they want, and the albums that they reissue are pressed in limited edition quantities (5000 copies) and they're only available online thru their website, not in stores so they won't lose money with distribution costs..... It's a great concept and probably the best hope for a reissue of those albums.. If the 5,000 copies sell out very quickly, then I'm almost certain the label will pursue a general reissue..
Someone has already posted a request for her first album on the forum there, so we should all join in and request ;D Here's the URL to the thread: (http://www.hip-oselect.com/boards/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP724836720&id=219)
