I've refrained from posting in this thread as I feel I'd get carried away, but I feel after moving up to 2nd beating the team above us incredibly convincingly on their own patch I can no longer.
17 league games unbeaten, unbeaten away from home for over 10 months (well it will be when we actually play our next away game). If people weren't taking us seriously before they will be now. Whilst I agree with Billy Davies that going up next year might be better, we have an opportunity to do so now and should do our best to take it.
Of the team that started tonight, 6 of them were here a year ago when Billy first took over and most of them looked like relegation fodder we should've left in league 1 (Moussi, Morgan and Wilson especially). The job he's done here is nothing short of fantastic. In the summer we made a fair few signings but the one position most Forest agreed we needed to strengthen was centre half, yet we didn't sign any. Kelvin Wilson looked especially useless last season, this season he's been a rock putting in constant Man of the Match performances.
Yes, we may have spent more money than most in the Championship but money buys you quality and it's now running through this team. If we can sign Shorey and Majewski permanently I'll be absolutely delighted, Raddy has been absolutely superb this season and is surely going to add to the 6 Poland caps he's won so far. I really hope the £1.5m fee we agreed with Polonia Warsaw that was rumoured is true, because it's an absolute bargain if so!
I was always a tad skeptical about Billy Davies taken over as most Derby and Preston fans seemed to criticise him despite the excellent work he'd done there, and he's continued that here. If I were to believe what I was told we'd be nothing but a hoofball side and if we were to go up, it would've been because we'd had 15-20 dull 1-0 wins! But it's been anything but that, we can play in so many different styles and formations. We generally play 442 but he's brought in 451 for the two big games against Newcastle and West Brom and we've deserved victories against both. We've proved we can play extremely attractive stuff, we can battle when we need to and grind out a result, and away from home we can really frustrate the opposition at fairly tough grounds.
Finally, I would like to say thanks to West Bromwich Albion for going the extra effort and spending all that extra money to make sure tonight's game went ahead!
