Absolutely LOVE their comeback. Best thing they've done for ages, probs since "Train" (a.k.a. Black Cherry era) In fact so much that I've done an (acoustic) cover of it... www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzyhrJ3l4fg

GOLDFRAPP
BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘ROCKET’
RELEASED 8th MARCH 2010
‘Rocket is basically brilliant – a charismatic and elegant modern pop tune with lyrics that are by turns wistful and dynamic’ - Popjustice
Genre-smashing musical pioneers Goldfrapp announce their brand new single ‘Rocket’ to be released through Mute on 8th March 2010. Fizzy with inspiration, ‘Rocket’ is a goose-bump brilliant tune and is taken from the duo’s fifth album ‘Head First’, released on 22nd March.
‘Rocket’ ‘is written and produced by band mates Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and comes complete with fantastic new mixes by Tiësto, Richard X, Penguin Prison and Grum, and is accompanied by a typically fabulous video directed by Kim Gehrig (Calvin Harris, Primal Scream, Santogold).
Meanwhile ‘Head First’ is Goldfrapp's most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance. With life affirming lyrics and stellar production it lifts off at full tilt and takes us on a journey to the heart of 2010.
The diversity, ambition and direction of the new album highlights Goldfrapp as true agenda-setters and modern British musical icons. ‘Head First’ follows the critically acclaimed ‘Seventh Tree’, and is the latest in a brilliantly consistent body of work - from the captivating electronic balladry of Mercury nominated debut ‘Felt Mountain’ and its distorted-dancefloor follow-up, ‘Black Cherry’ to the glitterball glamour of ‘Supernature’ which came out in summer 2005 and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide.
Goldfrapp will take ‘Head First’ to the festivals this summer and on their own tour later in 2010 - following the massive acclamation for both the Supernature and Seventh Tree tours and festival appearances around the world, Goldfrapp have underlined their reputation as one of the most transcendent and inventive live bands around.
And thanks to the guys at Mute Records, Eurosolution are extremely pleased to deliver you this HOT record so you guys can ensure this is massive in commercial club land. Please make sure you are on the case for this massive Eurosolution & Mute Records Priority!
With thanks
Craig x

I still can't believe how it missed Top 40, a good high percentage of tracks above it are so boring (being polite i use the word 'boring').

This is definitely my least favourite Goldfrapp lead single to date, but it's by no means bad. The Richard X Zero One remix is my favourite version.

I still can't believe how it missed Top 40, a good high percentage of tracks above it are so boring (being polite i use the word 'boring'). 'Rocket' has rebounded after their appearance on Jonathan Ross and their album advertising and are now at #41 on iTunes!!
