Tomorrow (2 June) is the closing date for nominations for this year's Mercury Prize with the shortlist being announced on 20 July. What albums do you think will be nominated? A special gold star for anyone who can come up with one of the obligatory surprise nominations such as last year's Speech Debelle.
I think Mumford & Sons will probably make the list. I'll need to look back at the year's releases (July to July) to see whether anything else comes to mind.

Chew Lips and God Help The Girl as possible surprise nominations. But the last year has not been vintage for British music.

That would be a depressing list. It could be a list of nominees for most years since about 1992.

They won't all make it onto the list anyway, but I imagine a good selection of those will. Maybe Fionn Regan again as well? Chew Lips is a good bet also.

The XX would be an interesting choice. Would love to see Two Door Cinema Club get in.

XX is a good call. I'd love to see the Twilight Sad make the list.
