I'd still have picked Casey instaed of Rose but really either of them should have gotten a place ahead of Harrington.
IMO current form is important.
Montgomery seems to carry bad luck so it will probably turn out that Harrington will lose mosy of his matches and the US will win by 1 pt. The Press will have a field day!

Only 5 of the 12 that lost to the USA in 2008 survive for this Ryder Cup: Poulter, Harrington, McDowell, Westwood and Jiminez.
The other European players in 2008 were Paul Casey, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Soren Hansen, Henrik Stenson, Robert Karlsson and Oliver Wilson.
Only 4 of the 12 USA players from 2008 are among the 8 automatic qualifiers for this years team: Mickelson, Mahan, Furyk and Stricker.

Langer was the heart's choice but in cold terms after the events of the week I would have gone for Casey, Donald and Edoardo Molinari.

The Ryder Cup is underway at Celtic Manor with the morning fourballs.
Westwood/Kaymer v Mickelson/D Johnson McIlroy/McDowell v Cink/Kuchar Poulter/Fisher v Woods/Stricker Donald/Harrington v Watson/Overton
I fancy Europe to take 2.5 points from those matches. They're already up in 2 of them...

Play may be suspended shortly due to the torrential rain causing puddles of water on the course.
The Europeans will want to play on because the Yanks HATE playing in anything other than blazing sun.

If it's any longer than 3 hours they could run into problems.

The longer this delay goes on, the more likely it is it will carry over to Monday...

Watching the BBC Breakfast sports news around 8.35 this morning I did notice the puddles behind and did wonder how/if they were going to be able to play.
There were suggestions it might carry over into Monday earlier in the week, and as soon as I saw the forecast for the 3 days this morning i would have been surprised at anything else tbh. Heavy rain today and Sunday, and although it was meant to be windy today its going to be even windier on Sunday..
I wasn't expecting so little play to have been completed so far though. At this rate they may be going into Tuesday...I'm assuming thats possible? I notice on the BBC site there's never been a Monday finish before.

They can't go into Tuesday. Dusk on Monday is the cut-off point. Any matches still out on the course at that time will be halved and whichever team has the most points after that wins.

A change in the format for tomorrow, in an attempt to catch up today's lost play.
After the current fourballs are completed tomorrow, the second session will be made up of six foursomes matches instead of four, with the later session consisting of four fourballs and two foursomes. This will mean all 24 players will be out on the course for the two later sessions tomorrow.
If there's no interruptions tomorrow, there's a chance they could still finish on Sunday, even if the tomorrow's final session has to be finished on Sunday morning.

The USA picked up another 3.5 points from the foursomes this morning to lead 6-4.
However, Europe were leading ALL SIX matches in the third session when play was stopped. That's potential 10-6 lead going into the singles, though it's likely the USA will fight back tomorrow morning.
It's still going to be a struggle to get finished tomorrow...

It's Europe's to lose now. Fantastic effort over the last couple of days. To come out of today's matches with 5.5 points after leading all six overnight took a lot of bottle.
The singles pairings are due to be announced shortly...

Incidentally, today's defeat for Mickelson and Fowler means Lefty has now lost more Ryder Cup matches (17) than any other American player in history...
