hi does any one like a album that they think has or never got the recognition it deserves.I was thinking of one that you don't hear much about but i think was a smashing record.Suede coming up put it on for the first time in a long time today what a album every track could have been a single great album but undertaed.people always talk about the other two albums they did with bernard butler but i think this one is the best of the lot.

So many in the last couple of years.
Chris Cornell - Scream Melanie Fiona - The Bridge Laura Izibor - Let The Truth Be Told Beth Rowley - Little Dreamer Patrick Wolf (all albums) John Mayer (only in the UK, he doesn't get close to the recognition he deserves here) Bens Brother - Battling Giants

Orson - Culture Vultures.
Okay not as good as their first album and bombed commercially but it's still a good album.

I have their first album and it's brilliant! Sure is but their follow-up is great too.

I think all the albums I like are underrated. Other than Pet Sounds and Who's Next, which are acclaimed as classics.

I love Kate Nash, both of her albums, especially the first, but she's sorta universally hated I'm also appalled that Rachael Yamagata is not universally acclaimed... same for Nerina Pallot...

Distant Cousins by Distant Cousins (Gospelly soul, I think from Manchester but definitely not Madchester, very late 1980s..what I wouldn't give to track down a copy, preferably on CD, now...)
Beauty Stab by ABC (a seriously, seriously, seriously, fine album)
and one we were talking about on another thread recently, that has no pretences to be anything other than just a collection of pop songs, but which still deserved more recognition than it got: Love Moves by Kim Wilde
...and LOADS of others that were at least critically acclaimed (anything by the Go-Betweens or the group's two main members; or by the Lilac Time, for starters, as a rule) but still sold far too few, at least when first released.

Sugababes - Sweet 7

Michelle Williams - Unexpected Brandy - Human Jordin Sparks - Battlefield Lisa Marie Presley - To Whom It May Concern/Now What
On a side note, I think Mariah Carey is criminally underrated as a songwriter. Aside from covers, she has written every single track she has ever released - including 17 of her 18 US #1s.

Sugababes - Sweet 7 No, that thoroughly deserved to both bomb and receive the critical mauling that it did. It was awful.

Geri Halliwell - Passion. If 'Love Never Loved Me' had been a single (after Desire,or instead of Desire),then more people might've bought it. I love it !

Saying that, as good as they are albums, they're not 'amazing' and they only really fit into this thread imo because they all bombed so badly And also I need to reiterate one of my choices. John Mayer - Continuum. It had a LOT of success in the US, but it never took off in this country which is a travesty If you haven't heard this album you NEED to introduce it to your life! Gravity is absolutely one of the best songs I've heard in my life!

I thought the same when I first heard it, but I played it last week and it's just aged on me now Some songs are birlliant, pop perfection! But too much filler imo
