I would also like to announce my retirement from international football. The writing was on the wall when Wright-Phillips was chosen ahead of me for the World Cup.
However, I'm happy to be included in any Wales squad John Toshack wishes to name (even though I'm not Welsh but my wife qualifies), so I can pretend to be injured before the game and win Sports Personality of the Year in a few years.

On an unrelated note, the Faroe Islands are 1-0 up in Estonia in the first qualifying match of Euro 2012.

Hart G Johnson Jagielka Terry A Cole Barry Lampard Gerrard Walcott A Johnson Rooney
Just four players who weren't heavily involved in the world cup. What's the point?

Answer: to be able to boo them for their abject performances before substituting some of them (possibly for good in an England shirt)?
Far better than "Steve McClown" approach of singling out David Beckham at fault after a tournament in which he scored a winning goal; and added three assists; and then making no other changes.

Half time 0-0 ..... and booing.
Actually I thought England played quite well against a very negative Hungary; especially Walcott & Adam Johnson. But Rooney has temperament issues; Lampard & Barry are painfully slow; and Glen Johnson looks great going forward but can't defend. So nothing new then.......

Actually I forgot all about the match, I was just about to turn it on, since I just saw the half time score on here, not worth bothering to be honest.

I think the booing at half-time was more on the assumption that a few wouldn't be returning for the second half. Plenty of boos for Rooney when he went off. Two very good goals from Gerrard in the second half.

Yeah, England did alright in the first half (not quite as brilliant as the ITV commentators were making out), but it's a shame we only had four central midfielders in the squad, one of them an 18-year old debutant. I especially liked Tyldesley(?)'s insightful comment that, playing 4-5-1 instead of 4-4-2, "England effectively have another man in the middle" Fantastic goals from Gerrard, fully justified his place in the side. And Hungary's goal clearly not over the line... makes me wish that was an important goal in a qualifying match, so more would actually be made of it.

we will never win anything with barry and lampard "running ther midfield" they cudn't run a p*ss up in a brewery.
i like how capello said just before the game beckham will never play for england again and smiled, turns out he never told beckham thats the first he knew, announcing it on tv like that just shows the man is an idiot. and when gerrard scored both goals he never even blinked, he is an asshole. yeah some players did ok, against a team that had players who were playing for stevenage the other year and a gk that likes to wear his pjs during a game but nothing special, zamora turned the game or was it more the fact rooney got taken off. leaving gerrard able to do what he does best without rooney getting in the way, adam johnson did ok, missed a sitter and lost the ball a bit to often first half. all the debutents did well and young did ok aswel so definetly a worthwhile game, only they should have played these players a year ago.

Decent performance last night. The debutants all did well, except Dawson, who took a while to get going.
Adam Johnson had a good game, despite his miss. Gibbs was impressive defensively, very confident but he needs to be more wary about bombing forward and leaving himself prone to being caught out of position.
Rooney still doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the team.

Good game the other night, 3-0 would have a fairer reflection. Outstanding from Gerrard, a real captain's performance, can't think of a better England performance from him, and just when we needed it most as 1-0 down i couldn't see us scoring. On the "goal" even from behind that goal to the left in line with the corner flag it didn't look over, (someone text me to confirm it wasn't shortly afterwards). Was mystified that it was given.
Hart and Walcott played well, no-one else other than Gerrard really stood out. Didn't think much of Johnson tbh, though he did improve when he switched to the right in the 2nd half. On the youngsters, Gibbs didn't do anything fancy but kept it nice and simple. Looks like he could be an able deputy for Cashley. Shame that Wilshere didn't get longer, but apparently he would have done had it not been for stomach pains the night before.
Credit to the Hungary fans, they were in the next block and made a lot of noise! They were applauded for this but were booed when they scored!
